Huffman and Reagan park tonight for me, only 1 lap, then I watched cross practice.
My TCR is now sold, so I'm buying my new Raleigh tonight.

We will be riding from Spin at 6:00pm and meeting the rest of the guys and gals at Edge Water Park for the practice.

No, it is just west of Whiskey Island.

1.5 painful hours on the crossbike last night with about 25 others including Nocondorfx.
Still not sure if I am digging the cross thing or not.
This morning I put in 34 miles on the road bike. Beautiful calm morning

Below is a picture from the parking lot at Edge Water before CX Practice

Maybe half of the group is the road regulars.....the other half is made up of guys from Bike Authority and elsewhere....

30 miles this morning... Little fall bite in the air this morning. It was a glourious morning

Allegheny Jet 09-25-09 03:59 PM

1.5 hrs of cross bike riding. My house to Regan Park, 4 times around the cross course then back home.

Viscaria 09-25-09 06:29 PM

Didn't get out for a real ride today but I made a quick run to the post office (>3 miles round trip). A driver buzzed me and yelled "You're going to get f****** killed out here you f****** idiot". Why the hate?

I rode 50 miles on Sunday, no problem, and I get to deal with this riding 3 miles. Luck of the draw.

nocondorfx 09-25-09 06:49 PM

46 miles this morning

Jawn P 09-26-09 05:43 PM

25 minutes of cross.

Up yours mother nature. I wanted to race more.

The Chicagoan rode out to the Fox River Valley, west of Chicago, yesterday.

Starting in Rolling Meadows, I rode across Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and Elgin to reach the Fox River Bike Path. I used the Poplar Creek Bike Path in Hoffman Estates to get to Shoe Factory Road.

From Elgin, I followed the Fox River Bike Path north to Carpentersville and used South Rivers Road to get to Fox River Grove. I took Plum Tree Road and Kelsey Road to Miller Road and headed east across Lake Barrington and North Barrington.

I used residential streets to get through Hawthorn Woods, eventually reaching West Hawley Street. To avoid Mundelein, I took North Midlothian Road to West Winchester. This took me across Northern Libertyville to West Oak Springs Road to St. Marys Road.

I ended my ride in Lake Forest, the 20 mph winds from the southwest made train travel on the Metra very attractive.

So 77 miles of unsupported solo travel on unfamiliar roads. The route is available below.

20 miles this morning in breezy cool air.....well 25 to 30 with 45mph gusts is a tad more then a breeze I guess :)

black_box 09-28-09 09:05 AM

I got a camelbak and broke it in yesterday with 53 miles, about 20 miles over my previous long distance. One quick break to eat a snack, another one to show a tree who's the boss.

Michael

How is Shoe Factory road between Poplar Creek and Elgin? Busy?
I ride both Poplar Creek and Fox River trail quite often, but never figure out the way to ride from Hoffman to FRT.

kdgrills 09-28-09 06:16 PM

09/26, 41 miles
An easy 20 mile ride on the local mup in the morning and another in the afternoon.

09/27, 65 miles
Had planned on 100, but that hellacious ~25 mph SSW wind tamed me into submission.

Only 465 miles this month. I need another ~600 in order to make it a 3000 mile year,
looks like it's gonna be close.

Cheers.

I just bought a new frameset. It's probably one of my favorite marques in cycling.
