Took a day off work...45 miles, beautiful day!! A bit windy but we rode out into the wind and enjoyed the push back home. I think the junior finally realizes he needs to ride to be fast. Mid-Ohio tomorrow!

4/2 Well me and the misses have today off together and since the kids are either away in college or into their own stuff and don't need us around except to pay their bills, we got in a great little ride of 90 miles. From our place in elyria rode thru grafton, chatham, lodi, burbank, lunch in west salem, spencer wellington, Oberlin, and home to elyria. While stopped in Oberlin for a coffee, we are sitting outside and POP, ZZZZZZZ flat tire. Wore a hole thru at the stem, great timing though, just sat, drank my coffee, and changed a flat, then head for home.

Weather Channel predicting no rain until 1 p.m Saturday, even then its only a 40% chance, should be just fine.

Incredible warm weather here in S.E. Michigan -- 20-30 degrees above normal. Rode 10 miles on Tuesday just after picking up new bike from LBS (great timing!); 21 on Wednesday; 10 on Thursday on the trail bike with the wife; 22 today.
Both Wednesday's and today's rides were out a long, straight rail-trail with a stiff tailwind on the out portion, meaning serious headwind on the way back. I don't think I've ever ridden that long in the drops, but it sure did help!

1.5 hours this evening. Was planned to be an easy ride but it was really slow. Once off the bike in my driveway I discovered the rear brake was rubbing.

4/2 55 miles in a howling gale!!! Into the wind was hard, as you would expect, but the downwind was perfect for our route home. we did a consistant 27-30 mph for 20+ miles, what a hoot!! The cross wind was borderline dangerous though as it would push you into traffic.
TSURU, sorry we weren't able to make it down your way today, hope you had a successfull event and maybe do it again next year!!

A rather blustery day in North Central Ohio. We rode to a track and field invitational meet in Bucyrus. The winds forced them to cancel the girls' pole vault events. A nice ride home with the wind behind us.

The winds were a concern to me and I bailed out on the race at Mid-Ohio. Mansfield Airport at 3:00 PM had 36 mph sustained wind with 52 mph gust. Just can't imagine racing with the wind plowing sideways against the pack.

Thursday planned on riding 40 miles...only made it 12 when i had a flat. When I took the wheel off to change it, realized that my tires were wore down to the threads...riding the trainer this winter tore my rear tire up. By the end of the ride 18.5 windy miles. Yesterday, squeezed in a windy 11 miles. Today...way to much wind for me.

Mid-Ohio Grand Prix...or better said..Mid-Ohio Hurricane. Nice showing despite the wind, we had 18 riders in the Masters class. What a day! The uphill portion of the course was straight into a 30+ mph wind, the downhill saw 40+ mph through the turns. Nice course to ride..I now know my true max HR. Finished with front group mid-pack in sprint.

everyone at mid-ohio was calling Bill a wussy for wussying out.
We got grouped with the 1/2s so the hammers were out. First race of the year hurt. Finished with the pack.... Not getting dropped is a good start.

I was only part "wussy". We had visitors and by the time they left I would have missed the Master's race I was signed up for, and would not have any time to warm up for the Cat 4 race starting 1 hr later. My one son had immunity from my wife and could get his stuff together and car packed while the guest were present. I did feel guilty enough to ride a solo 32 mile race simulation where I "rode like I stole something" out into Granger and Bath. Riding into the wind on Granger Rd from RT 21 to Medina was hurtful at race pace effort.

04/03, 20 miles
Out at sunrise in the rain. Had a soccer mom pull up next to me
while stopped at a light, gave a big
on my tail light (PBSF).
Said she could see me from six blocks back.
04/04, 25 miles
Glad I got out early, the winds have arrived.
Just put the Easter turkey on the grill.
Happy Easter,
Kelly

32.49 Miles...Most of it was pretty windy, but everything felt good except my lower back. I need to work on my core strength....
Was a good ride regardless.
Now its time to eat.

Guess what I did today? Followed by an hour-long ride before tomorrow's race near Brussels. Hoping to finish tomorrow, Wednesday was a move in the right direction.

Merckx* and I

Crazy, piss-drunk Irishman. He knew my roommate as we rode by.

Team Sky and Tommeke at the feed zone.

I was going to steal one and ride off with it, but the mechanic took my size off the roof and had it at the top of the Koppenberg before I could act.
