You missed all the best stuff then. The pure randomness of the video makes everything. Like the pirate ships, the flocks of dragons and the trippy swordfights.
There are like 50 people dancing on the deck of the pirate ship if you look closely.

spry 12-18-08 04:42 PM

Not a pirate ship, but an Iranian Vasoline Tanker.

*joygasm* The shop I work at just got in an 09 Roubaix S-Works with the full 09 Dura-Ace. Its a 54 so I can't really ride it, but my god is it pretty.

Did you pass the Corvette?

nocondorfx 12-20-08 12:46 PM

colorchange are you on 6speed? i love lurking there.

ColorChange 12-20-08 03:34 PM

Had to be careful with the power coming out of Canada ... love that corner.

Iab, Yes. THere was only one guy who gave me trouble, a full race preped and heavily built Viper. We had lots of fun. ;)

Used to do a lot at 6speed when it got started and had real cool owners there. Now, I haven't posted in years.

Put down your coffee and turn up the volume. :)

I haven't driven anything fast in 15+ years and I haven't driven seriously in 20+ years so I didn't have access to that fancy youtube thing. I was lucky to have a film camera.

OK, enough whining, this is the last fast thing I drove up at Elkhart Lake (turn 5 in the background):

Here's me trying to break the fuel pump (I think) (and damn, I was pretty when I was young :eek:)

Wilke,

Next year we should gather up a small group and head to the Lake Superior Pro Rally (formely the "Press On Regardless"). You'll never see anything more nutty than insane rally cars blasting through the UP at 2:00 am (sometimes with snow falling... it's in October).

I happened to be standing immediately on the side of the road in the following clip. In the last part, you'll see the car bounce and head to the left of the road. That side of the road has about 100 feet of exposure and the Richard barely got it back together in time to keep it on the hill. He also narrowly missed a lady sitting in a lawn chair between the tarmac and the cliff.

Needless to say, this sort of spectating is no longer allowed in the US (and, the local lawman closed this stage to spectators based, in part, on that clip).

When the car came by me, the middle of the wheels were about eye level:

Pat Richard is a madman

John Wilke 12-20-08 10:53 PM

He is!

I would love to see LSPR !

Ok, maybe we can resolve this problem I have with our calendar... Why is Dec 21 considered the first day of winter when that day, speaking entirely on the weather, really falls much earlier? It sure did this year.

Because, meteorologically speaking the seasons begin and end on the the respective equinoxes (equinoxi?) and solstices. Winter and summer begin on a solstice (which is why the days in summer are actually getting shorter the entire time) with spring and fall beginning on an equinox.

equi-noxious? :p

I'll have to dig up my "young racing" picture.
