Another race report: http://www.xxxracing.org/index.php?/...s/blue-mounds/
|
Thanks to Frunkin for carrying the video cam yesterday. Will hook up with Recursive today in Waterloo and JPradun on Saturday in Grafton. :)
|
Zwettler, Pinnacle, and Mounds Park Road. That's a ***** of a course!
JW, thanks for the video of you driving the course. Those are some of my favorite roads. |
Yeah, you can't do that course justice with only 10 minutes of video, I tel 'ya! :D
I'll take a look at the bike cam to see what we got out of that, guess Frunkin went down at some point. :( |
|
Day 2 - Waterloo, WI. Home of Trek USA.
Quick report: Trevor goes down (Tijak? What is it?) Looked okay, but road rash on all extremities. Recursive said he went down alone on the back side, may have it on video. Recursive and Frunkin not pleased with the hokey riding in the 3's today. BIG NEWS: Steve Tilford takes the overall lead in the Pro 1/2 from Matt Busche!! Thats awesome. http://peloton-pix.smugmug.com/photo...08_RycLC-M.jpg Ton of pix. Gonna run home, change into some dry clothes, and get a proper report out. Awesome day of racing here in Waterloo !! |
Gee, doesn't Tillford look like Sean Kelly (Yellow and green??)
|
Finally got a look at the bike-cam from Bluemound .... AWESOME!
Cripes, that road patching was bumpy!! Nice job Frunkin. |
Great course today. Decent size field. Hot and Humid for the 4/5s. Finished 8th on the day. Teammate was 6th. 'Bout time I get a decent result and a little $ for my pocket - wait it's gone already - lunch for me and our housing guest at a quiant diner along the S/F.
See ya in Grafton! Looking forward to today's pics John! |
I snaptured some power data. Check my blog for some graphs.
I forgot my heart rate strap. I'll get that next time. |
Recursive pondering that Pro contract from Rock Racing.
http://www.peloton-pix.com/photos/568822957_MtfPE-M.jpg Tjiak pondering that Pro contract from Astana for next year's Paris-Roubaix. http://www.peloton-pix.com/photos/568828892_gRGJp-M.jpg Recursive hauled the bike-cam yesterday. Speedster22 and JPradun on tap for today in Grafton. Will "Hip" be there?? |

Quick report: Trevor goes down (Tijak? What is it?) Looked okay, but road rash on all extremities. and yeah... that sucked. the worst of the road rash was my right hip/ass cheek which you can't see in the picture. plus i have some pretty sore joints and it hurts to walk. i was already a little to close for comfort to the guy next to me when another rider squeezed up the outside boxing me in. before i could get out of there i got tangled up and went down, narrowly avoiding being run over. it would be nice to get another view of that if it was on video. |
Status: Out with a "non-functioning part" at the Giro d' Grafton. Adjustable reach screw and plastic piece from right SRAM lever broke off and jammed my shifter. Stuck in the 12t until I pitted a half lap later. Heidi said no go to a free lap as it was "non-functioning part" and not a mechanical. Got a push back in, thought about it for a second - kill myself for what? - and pulled the plug. More racing to come.

Just rolled in from Grafton. Long, hot day, WHEW! Thanks to JPradun for running the cam today. Frunkin was on the hunt on the front of the field a number of times. Speedster22 ... well, I was going to hook him up with video for the 4/5 but by the time I found him, his race was over. :wtf: :D
Being as late as it is, and the 4/5's start at NOON tomorrow, I'm gonna skip those tomorrow and just go up for the Pro 1/2, maybe the Pro Women. I really like Manitowoc, so I'd like to get up there, but I need to catch up on what I've shot so far. Getting back logged only day 3 into the 12 day series! Will have website updated in the AM. Good luck to all tomorrow. :) |

That was you? I was the guy on your right who went airborne and almost crashed, too. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it looked and that you are generally OK.

I put the story of what happened on my blog... :x i'm gonna go read your blog now... -edit- p.s. i don't blame you for that crash as much as myself and the guy who came up on my left. p.p.s. the brother that took second would have easily won had he not unclipped in the sprint. |
|
Looks like:
Bean's didn't hold his line too well. WM got pushed (inadvertently) Peloton-Pix got most of in on video. |
This bolsters my theory that the 3's crash harder, for not good reason, and more often than any other cat. Even so, I'm hoping to be one some day.
|
Just goes to show me that photos reveal many things that you don't necessarily see live, in person!
He're I'm focusing on the winner, and look what else I caught. BTW, check my front page for the story on Tilford last night. :p |
those barriers look nasty
|
Just back from Manitowoc. Smallish fields - furthest race, so understandable. SUPER FAST course. Flat 4 corner with wide open corners. Got pinched on the 1st corner with two to go and lost a lot of positions. Things were getting a little sketchy just before this with riders jockeying for position into the corner four wide. Ugh. One IS Corp rider went off the front at 1 1/2 to go and was able to solo to victory. Rolled in for 20th. Had a lot left, just bad positioning. Screwed myself.
Rest day tomorrow and then see what the road race brings in FDL. Not big on RRs, but we'll give it a whirl. |
Greetings from Manitowoc!
It's a cloudy day, with a cool breeze off Lake Michigan. A smallish crowd has gathered in Washington Park for the races and the Pro 1/2 men are getting ready to start in 13 minutes. Despite the lazy feel to the atmosphere, the Pro's are zipping up and down this street I'm parked on, warming up in their 12's. These guys are always spitting blood, ready to get it on! Frunkin and Recursive report field sprints and pack finishes in the Cat 3 race. The overall leader's jersey has changed hands in the Elite Women's overall. Pix uploading from that race, then I'll shoot the Pro 1/2. See website later for results. It's good to be racing in Manitowoc again. I like this town. :) |
Good crowd showed for the Pro 1/2. Adam Bergman (Texas Roadhouse) takes the field sprint over Frank Pipp (Bissel) and Steve Tilford (?). That adds just a few points to Pipp's lead over Tilford in the overall.

Looks like an insanely talented field. I'm hoping that the lower cats are seeing enough interest to ensure this tour comes back next year! |
Good to know. I didn't see anything before the crash -- only after WM started to rub against B&B. I heard the story from other riders.
As for cat3's today, it was extremely boring. David, who holds the overall lead, won the race in a field sprint. |
Here's my data from Manitowoc: http://www.trainingpeaks.com/sw/25MV...FMY3XR6AKIHX5E
This time with HR, but other than that a thoroughly uninteresting race. Still fun though. |
As long as it's fun. :)
Last moments of your race. HR vs Power. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...eenShot054.jpg They should put a grimace button on the controller. Rate your pain 1-10 so you can add that to the graph. What pain numbers would you add to this chart? |
Rumor has it, I will be actually trying to get results in the next 6 days. I'll report soon...
PS Tom, can you post more of those data features in the future? |
