Yes, on Saturday I will be there at the race around 10:00 a.m. before I hit the road riding out there. What time you start?

I saw your Endeavour jersey today, though...
(Yes, that was me all dorked up on John Nolen. I'm not surprised you didn't know - I think you've only seen me once)

Greenbush video is uploading. Look for it around noon.
|
Did my video not work from that one race?
|
That video turned out fine, just haven't gotten to it yet. ;)

Got the Grafton video posted. Pradun: Hope you like the 'Crew'. :p

Nice video. Except those shimano cables. (Campy rules!)
Wish I could have been there that day. |
(Campy rules!)
True dat my friend. 1:00 start today? May drop over to see a few laps. |
Here's our boy recursive in action in Palmyra. John Wilke I ain't!
Second wheel in this pic: http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/q...ng/lake043.jpg Small field....he was sitting about 5th wheel with a couple laps to go....finished in the pack I think...couldn't find him afterwards. One dude broke off the front with about a lap to go and no one in the group worked to chase it seemed. I, meantime, was rocking the ghetto cruiser on the course watching today! http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/q...ng/lake024.jpg Sunday I am taking my Madone out to that course and attempting to just complete the eight laps these guys did (50 miles I think). recursive....post the time it took you to do the race so I can compare if I even make it eight laps by myself out there. thanks.... |
+1 on the pix.

Ryan Law, ex-teammate of mine (and Tom) from Endeavour, won the cat3 race.

I was blocking like a champ. Marc Howe loved that.
Hip: I didn't have a computer, but I'm sure we averaged at least 23 mph. That's in a group of course. The reason you didn't see me is because I crashed with about 500 meters to go. A junior rider rode across my wheel in an effort to get out for the sprint. But I shouldn't have had my wheel there. I actually did the same thing to another rider earlier in the race when I stupidly looked behind me to check the gap. He ended up in the hospital. I went to visit him after the race and nothing was broken. Heal up fast Kelby. When the pace gets slow, I need to remember to go to the front, not just for position, but for safety. Most crashes happen when the pace slows down and people start looking around. I should take that as my cue to go to work. Fortunately everyone survived with no broken bones. |
Holy crap...and we were just talking about staying clean before the race too.
I was at the finish line and the two chicks that were in their breakaway were yelling at the officials that there was a crash back there...I had just ridden from that area too. So that was you huh? Damn. Very eventful race for you. |
There were 3 of us that went down there. Lots of road rash all around. Considering the high speed though, we came out pretty lucky.
I still feel terrible about the crash earlier in the break. I shouldn't have been looking back. He shouldn't have been overlapping my wheel either, but that doesn't excuse me. Theoretically, I'm still racing tomorrow in the time trial. |
So you're the guy :notamused: : http://www.xxxracing.org/index.php?/...s/cherry-bomb/
(sure, I take one race off with no camera running, and miss the shot) |
Yup. :(
Stupid rookie move on my part. Despite my actions today, I do consider safety important. But I've never been to a team meeting, and only once on a ride, and that was all 1/2 guys. As far as I know we don't even have team meetings. Not that I would know though. Kyle Wilberg approached me at the race also and told me how he felt about it. His comments were welcomed and appreciated. I don't think there should be any reflection on my team though. I should have known better. In some crashes you don't know how you could have prevented them. In this case, I shouldn't have looked back. I learned my lesson. Unfortunately another rider took the fall. In a piece of karmic justice though, the same thing was done to me at the end of the race. But the point is keeping it safe for everyone. After the race, I drove to the hospital and talked to Kelby's mom, who was the rider who got the worst of it. Fortunately, they found that he did not have any broken bones, but did have some road rash, bruises, and contusions that sounded pretty painful. I'm glad it was not worse. For my part though, I won't be looking back in that situation again. |
You want to see this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngZ_j...eature=related
I think it's part 2 that shows a 'look back' crash. |
Yup. Look at 5:00.
Watch the whole thing if you have the time. It's a classic. They start the race with the sun rising, finish the race with it setting. |
I watched the whole thing. Found some more look-backs from the fronts of breaks in part 3 at 0:40 and 3:20. I guess I'm hyper-sensitive to it now.
|
Learning experience I guess. Good luck at the TT today.
Me...I'm doing the Palmyra race the safe way....heading out to ride the course myself a little later this morning....beautiful weather to go push myself in. |

(sure, I take one race off with no camera running, and miss the shot) Maybe xXx should start practicing what they preach (that is, if one action by one team member now reflects on the entire team). I wouldn't sweat it too much, recursive. Going to the hospital to see the guy is a stand-up move. Mistakes happen. Mistakes happen a lot in the 3's, 4's, and 5's. I get that that dude is pissed, but maybe xXx should display a little more tact than putting a race report on their official web page with such condemnation of an entire team. |

Well, in other news, I still suck mightily at the TT.

When sucking....I find it best to suck mightily.
...why do I feel like this is going to end up in someone's sig? |
