Pikers ... you should all be eating peaches and then you *might* win a CAR PRIME like Recursive !

MJH2 06-26-09 01:36 AM

Wow. Looks like a bike throw at the the line is what takes the field sprint. Nice!

Man, did I die in a hurry out there!

Speedster22 06-26-09 07:45 AM

Awesome shots John! Thanks for all your hard work in the heat this past week!

John Wilke 06-26-09 05:16 PM

Yeah, it's a tough job, but some one ought to do it. (buy a picture) Frunkin and JPradun were duking it out today in the 3's. I'm sure there were other BFers, but I didn't notice them, sorry. Day 8 and I'm feeling it. Two to go. I keep thinking about the Tour or the Giro. Cripes ... thems THREE WEEKS LONG!

*BIG* race tomorrow - Downer Avenue.

Rest up boys, it's going to be a fast one!

:o

carlosflanders 06-26-09 09:04 PM

Wow! The whole field drafts MJH2. That's an achievement!

Seriously, MJH2 I think that you might be expending too much energy getting up to speed, by which time you're out of gas early at full speed. Maybe you're doing it already, but how's about getting close to the top 5, into the draft of a couple of the bigger guys, drop back a bike length and accelerate to speed while still in the draft. Then rocket past the head of the pack while at full speed. You've got bucketloads of short term power (I remember you sailing by me up that 18% hill at whitewater) but I think you could use it a lot more efficiently. If you can build up a full head of steam before turning on the turbos you could do some serious damage.

However, I'm glad to see that you finally finished a race, the aggressive MJH2 is the one I want to see.

Speak softly and carry a big afterburner.

Oh I plan on it! Just waiting until all the galleries are up!

John Wilke 06-27-09 02:12 AM

Yeah, I'll have more time to do a decent job on the galleries this coming week.

Greenbush report is posted.

Only a half hour drive to the race for me tomorrow, and I actually know where I'm going for a change - Whoo Hoo !! Getting fired up ... it's going to be an exciting day. :D

John Wilke 06-27-09 08:22 AM

Frunkin (left) getting nipped on the line for (?) 17th.
(FYI, I think there were TWO climbs in the final mile ... yup.)

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...nkinsprint.jpg

Pradun 14th (correct me if I'm wrong) and I'm pretty sure I saw Tjiak in there as well (first race since his 'flyer' at Waterloo?) Props to Funkin for being cam carrier. I haven't seen it yet, but it's full length so I hope it's good!

JPradun 06-27-09 08:42 AM

God damnit. I totally screwed up yesterday. Worst (epic) race of my life.

Frunkin 06-27-09 10:49 AM

Hahaha I didn't sprint and that guy came around me right at the line. I just looked over and said "are you serious?" as he came past.

Hipcycler 06-27-09 02:22 PM

That's ALL you said?

Bet you sprint next time though.

Glad I checked in to see you guys rockin' it again this season.

Gonna be out in Palmyra on the 4th?
Let me know....I'll be there and I can have the HIP Chocolate Milk Wagon at your ready. :D

John Wilke 06-27-09 08:49 PM

I'll start thinking about next weekend after this one is over first. Still have one more day to go. One more to go.

There is a saying ... Always throw your bike across the line. You see guys do it for 5 place when they are alone by as far as the eye can see, but they just toss it because they are crossing the line.

"Always throw your bike".

Downer Avenue was great as usual. If Superweek tops tonight, I think I've gone to Heaven.

 :roflmao2:

Sage23 06-27-09 08:57 PM

Who's going to Waukesha? I'll probably only make the Pros race at 6, but will try to catch an earlier race if I can find the time. JW, I assume you'll be there -- I'll look for ya. I'll probably take up residence in my usual position -- somewhere in Cutler park between Clinton and Maple. Any of you 3s going to hang out for the finale?

recursive 06-27-09 11:52 PM

I might.

John Wilke 06-28-09 03:57 PM

Greetings from Waukesha! Day 10 and final day of ToAD. Sunny and windy here. Recursive finally in the top 10 and in the money. Awesome award podiums. Australian Team Verducci Breakaway sweep today's podium and put two in on the overall top three. Masters 1/2/3 field now rolling with two, yes two, former Tour de France riders - Jeff Bradley (7-11) and Martin Ramirez (Colombia). Time for dinner and some air conditioning. Pro's roll at 6pm.

:)

( Seeing a lot of us riders that we all used to race together when we were in our 20's ... now all with gray hair. :( :p )

John Wilke 06-28-09 08:41 PM

Ran into Sage23 at the finish line. INCREDIBLE finish to the Pro 1/2 race. Best race I've seen this year. Check my site in the morning for that ... it's going to be better than Velonews!! :roflmao2:

Super, just super series. They WILL be back next year.

(sure glad it's over though. I'm tired! :o )

Ditto. Superbly put on. Only will grow in the years to come.

Just rolled in myself and I don't even have fumes to run on anymore. Hanging it up for a couple I think.

Sage23 06-28-09 08:55 PM

Heck of a race for sure . . . although I was afraid when the four-man break stayed away for the whole race. Lots of familiar faces around today (must have been the great weather) although only saw JW from here. Had the family in-tow, so I didn't spend too much time taking photos, but here's a couple:

Frunkin 06-28-09 09:59 PM

Gear Grinder really put on a show today.
I on the other hand was praying for the race to be over 20 minutes in. Racing every day has turned my legs into jello.

recursive 06-29-09 12:48 PM

You can just crop out the offending parts for your christmas cards.

.....hmmmm, indeed.
I'm out of touch this season...."IS" team jersey recursive? What happened to Endeavour?

Of course some things never change....knee all banged up, meaning once again he has been dining on pavement this season.

Gonna be in Palmyra racing Saturday?

Endeavour folded and merged into IS Corp as the junior development program.

recursive 07-02-09 07:09 AM

Endeavour is no more. They merged into ISCorps this year making a monster team even bigger.

Relatively speaking, I've been pretty lucky with crashes this year so far. Only 2. :) The one you see on the knee was actually on a training ride, where my (tight) rear quick release pulled out of the drop outs. Always use steel QR kids!

I'll be racing saturday and sunday. See you there?

Wiswell 07-02-09 07:21 AM

I saw your Endeavour jersey today, though...
(Yes, that was me all dorked up on John Nolen. I'm not surprised you didn't know - I think you've only seen me once)
