Chicago Winter Bike Swap (at Harper College, Palatine, IL)

January 17, 2010

First, anybody planning on going?

Second, when does the line start forming to get in? They officially open the doors at 9:30.

Third, anybody remember if they stuff like bib shorts? I wasn't really looking for them last year, so didn't notice.

Decent shoe selection?

Does it mostly consist of stores selling new stuff or are there some vintage vendors too? I'm hoping to get a nice vintage set of wheels/hubs and maybe some Superbe/Super Record.

New stuff, old stuff. I usually score enough to build another new 'old' bike.

A lot of people take credit cards but most are cash only. I think I might be able to take credit cards but I will have to call it in. Last year I found a deal on Saddles and had to run around to find an ATM with enough cash. Ended up having to borrow because the ATM ran out of cash. Come prepared.

So, I can't remember, is there somewhere you can try on clothing for fit? Specifically bibs (I know I can try shoes right out in the open without getting arrested). Or do I just need to take my chances (I'm in-between a medium and a small with various brands).

I've got some vendor passes I can part with. 1 is for Kimbercop. I have about 4 others. I have sent out some invites so they may all be taken. Just tossing a line out.

Early. It's a long line. That or if you don't care about the early deals then come about 45 minutes in to it and there won't be any line at all.

I did not see a response to this question. I"m also looking to see if they have BMX bikes. I heard they have a "Singles corner" (individuals selling a single bike) and I have a ProConcept 20" BMX Race bike I would like to sell. Is this a good venue for this?

Ok...I tried sending a private message twice but got hung up both times....I really dislike this new forum software!!

PSI, Would you consider having used bikes in your vendor booth? If so, what would you charge for this? I have a BMX racer and maybe a Trek 5000 I'm looking to sell? You can reply PM if it works or I can dig up your e-mail.

Between work and a seminar I doubt I'll be able to make it - but if I do which part of the school is the swap going to be?
