Looking for quality metal platform pedals

I'm looking for quality, meaning good bearings or serviceable bearings, in a platform/cage style pedal like the VP "Bear cage trap" type pedals. I've worn out/broken two sets of cheapies from my local bike shop. What's available seems to be $15-$20 junk or $100+ designer pedals.

Looking for something durable. Can't seem to find anything.

Any suggestions?

Ive been very happy with the Odyssey Triple Trap pedals, yeah they're bulky and heavy, but man do they take a beating and keep going. Plus they have replaceable cages and you can service the bearings, and you will never have a issue with your foot sliding off. I have a set on my hybrid for 15 years now, I've repacked the bearings 3 times and even after 30,000 miles they still spin smoothly. You can get them for $40 and change shipped from bmxguru.com hope this helps.

Wellgo alloy platform pedals work well on an older hybrid I ride. They provide a stable and wide platform that work with any shoe. The short medal studs give good grip even when wet. About $30.

Pretty heavy, but generally considered utterly indestructible.

DMR V8 Mag pedals. I've been using them and they are great. You can get them for around $50.

Thanks themishmosh. I wish I had seen them sooner. I just bought a pair of Giant branded pedals that look almost identical to them. Price was nearly the same.

I have a pair of MKS pedals from Velo Orange. They’re not inexpensive, but they’re quite nice. MKS Urban Platform Pedals - Pedals - Components

I put these on my Cannondale Quick 1. I only have about 200 miles on them but they have been working great so far.

PD A530 from Shimano. Ebay them for around 40 bucks. You can ride platform or you can ride SPD if you ever decide to upgrade to clipless.
If those don't have enough grip I would go with Wellgo MG1's.

You stay under 50 bucks and yet you're getting some thing good that will hold up to tons of abuse.

Wow, that's a lot of pins.

I was after a set of Shimano Saints when Trek of Pittsburgh bike shop had their annual warehouse sale, but I didn't see any pedals other than junk plastic ones that come on kid's bikes or clipless.

I ended up stopping at Performance Bike and they had a set of Forte, $80 on sale for $50 so I bought them. Feet are sticking like glue now. I love them. Just road 28 miles yesterday with them.

I got some others in LBS .. the company used set screws for pins

so you if you wanted to lower them chose how far the pins stuck out.

my Ergon pedals are a Not cheap engineered Polymer Pedal, Grip tape patch rather than Pins.

I prefer the Ergons to pinned pedals as they do far less damage to soft sole footwear, they're also more comfortable with thin sole shoes like my Chucks.

I got them when REI had the small Ergons on sale for $35.
