FX 3 or Zektor 2???
I'm in the process of purchasing a new hybrid bike and leaning between a Zektor 2 of FX 3. I primarily will be using it for fitness, but will use it commuting occasionally as well. I'm 80% Road,15% gravel and 5% off road (best estimate). Regardless I plan on getting a bigger tire 36+ no matter what bike for better shock absorption. Both seem like good fits..i like the carbon fork in the FX but like the disc brakes in the Zektor. Looking for some advice/suggestions. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

No info on the Zektor, but 9 years on an 7.2 FX. If you get an FX, get the FX 3 with the carbon fork.
I love my 7.2 FX. Best bike I have ever owned. The *only* problem is vibration from the from the fork radiating to my forearms. For me, it's not worth the $$$ to replace the bike (or the fork) just for that. But if I do replace the bike for whatever reason, I would choose the carbon fork for sure. I rented one with the carbon fork and it solved the problem.
Every so often, I look at the Trek website and the LBS to determine if it is worth it yet to replace it. Getting close, but not there yet.

That's what I'm leaning towards. Test rode the FX 3 and really liked the feel. Quick and smooth. However last time I was at the shop they recommended the Zektor may be a better choice for my riding style..never heard of it before and then I did some research. Seems nice but never test rode it...

If it had a steel frame or a steel fork or a carbon fork, then I could see the appeal of it to a degree, but instead it has an aluminium frame and aluminium fork.
If one absolutely had to buy a Trek and wanted disc brakes, then I guess this model replaces the disc version of the 7.4FX which got renamed to Alliant and is now gone. But one is not restricted to Trek, so better offerings than the Zektor can be easily found in Specialized's Sirrus Sport and Sirrus Elite, as well as Giant's Toughroad SLR 2 & Escape 1 Disc, all of these bikes have carbon forks and disc brakes.
