Nice bike. BTW, the struts are meant to be bent as needed to make them fit. I wouldn't fold them, but a gentle bend shouldn't cause any problems.

Finished the little 720, new set of Kenda West 700X35's, quick rolling light bicycle, She's running almost dead quiet through the gears and straight as an arrow:speedy:. My neighbor is now ready for a summer at the bike path across the road from us, she's going to e happy, took it out for about a 3 mile shakedown run and it feels like new.

That looks like a '97 model (Inkwell Blue paint). That's a "buy" all day long at that price (assuming the frame is good, not cracked or bent, etc.).

You mean that gorgeous intense blue one? My poor husband was drooling over that for days, but he already has a 730 that needs building up, as well as a New Albion Drake to build, and couldn't rationalize the expense.

^ Yep, that's the one. It was a 21" 1990 750 in Intense Blue. It was listed at $425 + shipping when it sold so I bet the seller is happy.

My 91 750 (Titan Tour) has Schwalbe Delta Cruiser 37 with roughly 1cm or 3/8" either side so good for 43 or fenders maybe both.

That's pretty wide for what is a basic road type rim but...
I've gone wide on narrow rims but not that big a difference.

No worries. I've had 2.1" tires on my Giant Roam's rims before (54mm tires on 19mm rims). Keep proper inflation in them and a 43-45mm tire will be just fine.

Did the cornering get a little squirmy? That would be my concern; granted it is not a race bike.

BTW: Were you on Odyclub? (Honda Forum) If so I appreciated your transmission saga. My 2001 just got to 94,000 and has a flare between 1-2 now.

The lower the pressure, the softer they felt. Of course, that seems obvious, but it's particularly the case for wide tires on narrow rims. I'm about 240 pounds, I ran them at about 30 psi front/50psi rear. I ended up taking them off because I bought a dedicated MTB, so I put 40mm hybrid tires back on it.

Be careful also with tread design. Tires with larger side knobs, especially when run at a lower pressure, can give you some "self steer" as you lean. That is, the tire feels like it wants to keep pulling in the direction you turn. The bike can feel less stable because of that. I have owned a few tires like this, and have started preferring tires with a more rounded profile, with less accentuated side knobs. My MTB currently has 2.1" WTB Nanos. They have a pretty round profile that doesn't seem to self steer much. I can directly compare those with 2.1" Vittoria Mezcal tires on the same wheelset and the same bike. At pressures higher even than I'm running the WTBs, but the side knobs on the Vittorias would stick out and want to grab the ground, creating more of the self steer feeling. I had to run them at a much higher pressure in order to get rid of that feeling.

I don't think so. I have an '05 MDX and an '09 Ridgeline, both with good transmissions. The MDX has almost 180k on it and the RL has about 140k.

You're right about that. I was happy to find my rough non-lugged 720. A lugged 750 in my size would have been golden.

The bike looks great -- I also have a '97 750 in the Inkwell Blue, and it's a wonderful bike to ride. If your bike doesn't have the Silent Clutch rear hub, the hub may have been replaced at some point in the past...or the bike was a very early or late 1997 model that may not have had that component in place at the factory. Does the rear hub have a silent roller clutch hub, or is it a more typical freehub that clicks as the wheel spins forward?

All the time. I have 29"x48mm bontrager XR1 tires on my 1995 730. I get some looks and comments on more gnarly trails and am slower than the dedicated trail bikes but it's a blast.

My 95 730 was a bit under 26 pounds before I mods.
