2010 Sirrus Comp value?
Hello, I have found a bike that I am considering purchasing locally. The seller claims that the bike is a 2015 Sirrus Elite, carbon, and the original price paid for the bike was $3400 (?!?!). I would post pictures but I am a newbie with less than 10 posts, so I can’t yet. The bike does not have disc brakes, it has Shimano 105 groupset. The color is that darker gray with a white pinstripe. Comparing the pictures from the seller to pictures online, I believe it is a 2010 Sirrus Comp. The seller is asking $600 for the bike. I know this bike never originally cost $3400 and I’m not sure how they could call it a 2015 Elite when that is far from a 2010 Comp. Either way, they said they would take $550 for the bike. From the pictures it looks to be in good shape- nothing wrong that I could see. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jim

2010 Sirrus Comp was not full carbon, and did not have 105 stock. I know because I own one: E5 aluminum main frame w/carbon seat stays and fork; Tiagra (triple) components. Mine is heavily modified/upgraded, but pic gives you a good look. So if seller is claiming this (below) is a 2015 Sirrus Elite carbon, nope! That said, if a 2010 Sirrus Comp and in impeccable shape, 600 is pretty high -- even 550 is a generous offer. I might ask 600 for mine, w/full SRAM Apex/aftermarket wheelset/TRP brake upgrade etc.

2010 Comp MSRP $1100
2015 Elite MSRP $820
Obviously the owner is either misrepresenting the bike or does not know what he has. In "used" condition and depending on the overall condition I'd say the guy is asking for about twice what the bike is worth. Shop around a little more. You can always gently confront and ask him why he thinks the bike is what he says it is. I always ask sellers if they are the original owner and see what they say. Try to keep them honest.

Most welcome. I do want to make one correction. The rear derailleur on my '10 was indeed 105. The triple crank was Tiagra, and the shifters were Shimano non-series 3x9.
