For those who are curious, here are some pics of the DoubleFighters after 400 miles of mostly paved trails.

I spent the entire ride on the front 30 tooth ring and was all over the cassette. Brakes worked great and the VO Hotbars/Ergon grips are a great fit for touring. The DoubleFighters show minimal wear and are great on paved and gravel… I wish they were lighter.

sweet lookin ride - hope to do that one in the future !

on the tires - desire light and fast ? look at the Rene Herse Snoqualmie Pass … 700 x 44 - extralight version weighs around 340 g … (actual installed size often around 41 mm) … don’t get much lighter and faster than this tire - but of course not very puncture resistant … and pricey of course ( the old adage you can have 1 or 2 of 3 but not all 3 ) … :)

I'm thinking 38s the largest that will fit with the fenders and probably will go with GravelKing SS+ as a compromise of lighter, faster, and still durable. The old adage is definitely true... every tire is a compromise and I'm really happy with the GK SS+ on my Synapse.

We've decided that Aug 23 will be the next leg of the OTET and my riding buddy's wife will likely be borrowing the Quick while I ride the Synapse. The next leg appears to be fairly level so I should not need the low gears of the Quick... or that's what I am hoping.

I ran 35mm GK SS for a bit a few years ago on my Q1D - these were older versions that actually measured around 37mm installed … apparently Panaracer got their act together with the sizing in subsequent runs

Long past due update. While doing a tire upgrade on my wife’s Verve, I purchased some RideNow TPU gravel tubes on sale. I swapped the two extras with the DoubleFighters. I forgot I had some seriously heavy Schwalbe tubes installed. I’m hoping for a short ride this weekend for another update.
