I ended up ordering these, they look slightly better in matte black with the stripes (to my eyes at least!):

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3c3d921127.png Oh I have read up on the brand... But if I got different wheels, do the crank upgrade and some other things... that's a chunk of change towards a Roadlite 7 that is over 3 lbs lighter than the Quick 1 or the Litespeed Cherohala City.. |

Black Friday sale with some additional discounts are calling me. I have some time on the additional discount code so i'm resisting the hasty decision. The black wheels are 25% off and silver are 15% off right now.

I've been watching the SKS Infinity Universal Rack with MIK System for some time. I got a 25% off Black Friday code so I pulled the trigger. I'll share details when it arrives. I'm still considering the wheel upgrade too.

It’s here! I’ll install it when it gets a good cleaning.

Ordered the SKS Infinity light for it. 20% off and free shipping

Infinity light installed on the rack. I like how it fits in the space between the rack frame and is lower than the top of the rack- thoughtful design. Time to bring the bike in for winter cleaning and to install the rack.

Picked up some different pedals and wrenches after Christmas. I’ll swap them when I do the cleanup.

New stem arrived! RaceFace had a sale so I picked up new bars/stem for my daughter's project bike and got a stem of my own. It's not the same line as the bars but with the sale it was about the same price as a generic Amazon stem. I like it so far.

Summer 2020 -
A late season change was replacing the 700x30C Schwalbe Spicer K-Guard tires. In my research discovered the Quick 1-4 share the same frame which is different than the lower level Quicks. Even after opening up my search, I found little online information about swapping to larger tires on any of them. Someone upgraded to 700x32c and there was discussion around moving to 35Cs or 38Cs but no actual installs. After some additional research, I purchased 700x35C Schwalbe Marathon GT Tours in October and managed to get several late season rides before winter arrived. Improved ride on surface streets and still grippy and handles well. https://www.schwalbetires.com/GT-Series https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...57434655f.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f29a449ff.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7984181e5.jpeg Riding decreased due to a job change and some other challenges in my personal life. A fair amount of the 2020 miles included my daughter riding a tagalong bike behind me. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4c04030470.png |
also consider the Panaracer GK SS if you are looking for 35mm multi purpose tires
probably weigh less than the Schwalbe Marathon Racer - and roll better had them on my Quick 1 D for a while - they worked well … they actually measured close to 37mm installed … they are now on mrs t2p FX 7.5 |

Tires arrived and got one installed only to discover the second one was the incorrect size. Contacted 365cycle on Sunday afternoon about the wrong tire and had a response within a hour. They’re sending the replacement asap and provided a return label. I’m happy with the service so far.
These are definitely lighter than the other Marathons I had on it. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6a1858fd2.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...743b6cb4f.jpeg |
Replacement tire arrived yesterday from 365cycle and installed. I am using Schwalbe tubes which are heavier than the Bell tubes I use on other projects. I might consider a tube swap in the future but as of now, the Marathon Racers are much lighter than the old tires. Come on spring and it looks like 65 degrees in Central Ohio on Sunday.

With it being sunny and 65 in central Ohio, I managed to get 13 miles on the Quick this afternoon. The first 6.5 miles were part of a family ride to the book dropoff at the library, a stop for DQ (my daughter bought!), and then back home. That ride averaged about 8mph with my wife setting the pace on the Verve 3. I grabbed the second 6.5 miles by myself and averaged just shy of 12 MPH. The Marathon Racers are much lighter than the old tires, rolled easier, and had nice grip. The bike feels much more like it did when it wore the Schwalbe Spicer K-Guards I'm happy with the upgrade.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9b24b6217.jpeg Also, I raised the saddle height on the pink Quick 24… this will be her last season riding it if she keeps growing like she is. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d9eeed073.jpeg |
Finally got the rack installed. I need to level it but I like it.

Trav1s You've inspired me to get off my butt, and stop talking about upgrading my bike and actually do it. Parts are starting to add up  Now just waiting on my Crankset.

Wow... it's been a while. Nothing much new here other than I've built up couple bikes because I enjoy the work. Multiple attempts to hit the trail have been thwarted by major rain storms during optimal riding time. I'm good going out in showers but these storms have been a real treat. I hope to get a morning ride tomorrow and head out to explore local trails with a friend on Saturday.

it was colder of course - but weather was better in our area (sw pa) for biking this late winter than it has been this spring …
a lot of rain this spring - April was one of the wettest on record and a lot of rain in May to date … doing a fair job avoiding the rain - but got caught in the rain for 4-5 miles during a late April ride :( |
Grabbed some miles today with a coworker and explored a new section of Columbus bike trails. I love the Marathon Racers - easy rolling, grippy, and much lighter than the old tires.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ca0bf26ad.jpeg After the ride, spent some time cleaning up a friend’s bike to sell and enjoyed a Heavy Handed Amber 😉 https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9d512c7ca.jpeg |
Between family commitments, home repairs, and flip bikes needing shakedown rides, this has been low on the list. Finally ordered a derailleur hanger this morning from Wheels Mfg and hope to have the Quick out next weekend.

The eagle has landed and I have time to make the repair tomorrow. Can't wait to hit the trails.

I've been following several items on FB Marketplace for over a month now and decided to reach out to the seller and inquire. He made me package deal and we are both happy! First item in the bundle was the Mavic Aksium Disc aluminum wheelset that look almost new - they were his road/trainer set for the gravel bike he has since sold.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...edbc1bb14.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8d3b46fd9c.png Second group of items in the purchase was a pair of Schwalbe One tires/tubes - one in 700x32 and one 700x30. He purchased a new bike, converted immediately to tubeless, and wanted these out of his garage. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3fe52c047.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...76282d0af.jpeg Finally, I got a pair of Shimano Ice Technologies Freeza 160mm rotors for the wheels. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...69dbcd8a6.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a377467de.jpeg My patience has paid off the Quick will get a wheelset upgrade! :commute: |
