Nice, I have a 2010 Crosstrail. Love the bike. It's so versatile. One wish though, would be that it was lighter.

I need new cables. What color do you guys think would look best on my bike? I was thinking maybe some white. I'll see what colors the bike shops around me have.

This is my bike:

I was thinking about blue or green, but I don't think any lbs's aroundd would have it. I'll go with white. I'll try to get it tonight (though it's snowing and I can't ride to the shop and I'll need a parent to drive me there.)

All the LBS had in white cable housing was brake cable housing. So I bought that, two new inner cables, and a new brake noodle for the front V-brake (the old one was destroyed). There is a lot of friction in the rear brake. I am 99% sure it is at the noodle, so I am going to buy a new noodle for the rear brake and be done with it. I just ordered some white Jagwire shift cable housing on ebay and should have it within 2 days of halloween. Once I receive it, I will take it to the LBS to be cut down so I can install it on my bike.

Here is the cable setup as it is right now:

I've always used a Dremel to cut through the housing. I'd imagine some real nice wire cutters should work too.

I don't have a dremel, and my only wire cutters are 30+ years old. They struggled to cut off the excess (inner) brake cable.

That's a pity because it's such an easy swap.

Not my every day style but I like it very much. It looks better with mustache than with drop bars.

Did you ever try to find out the weight? - I'm always curiois with Cro-mo about weight.

P.S Brown Brooks saddle would complement those grips.

Haven't bothered to weigh it... not much different than stock. As a 60+ Clyde, I'm more interested in comfort and strength.

If you're going to be working on bikes just get a cable cutter. They aren't all that expensive and work well. I used to hacksaw them and then grind the end square with a grinder. Know I just grab my trusty Park tool cable cutter and in one snip I am done.

In 6 months only :-) I also replaced pedals, grips, seatpost, tires, rims, partially brakes and cassette. Original chain lasted over 2000 miles - T9 chain lube used on it, and I'm ready to replace rusting handlebars... I also got 6 flats and I was flying down the MI hill at 80 mph, plus I lost 40 pounds... According to my Garmin, I burned over 300.000 calories and elevation gain was almost 40.000 ft.
Bad thing is that winter is here already - first frost and around 30 F right now. It's time to lube the chain in my mountain bike to get it ready for winter rides.
I would ride more often and longer distances if not my terrible sciatic nerve pain since I broke my back 3 years ago.
Take care of your backs guys! ;-)

BTW...should we create Crosstrail topic ?

Fiancée. She hates that I keep the bike next to the bed. Well, if we have to have a leopard blanket and sometimes pink sheets, my bike is going to stay where I want it.

This picture is exactly like my friend and I. I purchased a 2010 Crosstrail (same color), and my friend liked it so much, he bought a 2011 Crosstrail (again, same color ). Great, very versatile bikes.

This is what my dream is - all my 4 bikes next to my bed.
I do not have any support in the family.
