Very nice looking bike dude.
Thats just what I want to see on this forum, people spinning spanners building something special its very rewarding.
I like the single chain ring at the front thats how ive been running my bike without any problems, hope it works out for you to.
If you havent ridden it like that yet it might be good to protect the chain stay and BB from paint scratching if the chain comes off at least untill its setup and adjusted properly.

Thanks, I opted for the single ring because I never used the other two and I thought it would clean things up a bit.
I have a carbon fiber chain stay protector but it covers most of the Cypress SX lettering, I need to find a clear one, raining here this morning, maybe I can find one at a lbs.

Wow! lots of good info, also try googling chain deflectors I found five different brands at smart bike parts.
Giant02 I notice you have one chain ring, I still use two so we need to measure from the centre of seat post tube to edge of iner chain ring to find the right one.
Havent looked at probikekit yet, more searching to do.

So with only one chainring ... how do you do that?
It is an 48 teeth wheel if i count correctly ... so how do you go up steep hills then?
Nice bike btw

Adelaar, I know your in hilly country with probably longish hills you may need to use extra front rings so it depends on where you live.
I use my hybrid in mainly short hill country and would use my road bike in the hills, so when hitting a hill on my hybrid I just standup and sprint over and i've always managed on a 50 tooth and if I have to I just drop to a lower ring with my fingers (stopped) but have always had enough range on the rear cassette.
I think 02giant has a 36 (he needs to confirm that) so a bit more easy for him with less speed.
So I think its viable in some cases. 02 gaint has a good point it does clean things up a bit and it reduces weight.

I had no idea what they were called, thanks, should make the search easier.

I hadn't thought about the difference between one ring or more.

The new ring is a 44t, my old stamped one was 48t, I imagine I will loose a little speed. This may end up being a work in progress to get the combo I like. When I had the bike in Iowa the 48t worked good for the hills I encountered, now being in Denver I will have to see how it works. I have really bad cartilage issues with my knees, the hills are the worse on them, I may have to limit how steep of hills I tackle.
Thanks for the compliment!

It is currently a 44t. I like how it cleans it up and since I didn't use them, the weight savings is a bonus.

BTW, How do I post my pics so they are larger, not thumbnails?

Not much changes have been done since my last post but but the flipped stem and pb fenders definitely give the bike a different look.

Cassette and chain all cleaned up -also lost the dork disc

Yeah, there's still snow but i'm hoping/guessing it'll all be gone after the nice weather we're expecting next week!

Hey hey everyone, check your local, I bought mine at my LBS for around 3 bucks. Also make sure you have the right diameter of your seat tube although that's probably obvious. Make sure you have it set very close to the chain, as you don't want it to slip off. I've been using mine for about 3 years and never had it fail.

With respect to gearing I got a 3-ring chainring so I can go through the mountains with weight. However, since it's also my commuter I want speed so the big ring is 52T and the small cassette is an 11T; makes for a fast commute (when needed).

Yeah, that's fast, good enough for 35+ mph.
