There 600mm I have tried experimenting many configurations including what you mention but pretty settled with how it is now. I do a lot of standing in high gears on hills and really like changing my hand and wrist position to the bar ends. It's the one advantage I like over my road bikes.
Fair enough.
My handlebars are 700mm and when I tried bar ends on them, it was terrible.
But positioning them inside my hand grips works very well for me, a bit like aero bars, because my bar ends are quite long and are not straight all the way.

First ever ride today on my pre-loved carbon Sirrus. Just a casual 8km cruise around the local parks to see what I love and need to change.
I adjusted the seatpost down and now that feels good. It seems like there's too much pressure on my palms and wrists so perhaps the saddle needs to be tilted back a few degrees, I'm not sure.
I'm booked in for a basic service (safety check and lube) and a fitting on Wednesday so will live with what I have for the next few days.
Nevertheless I'm very, very happy and this is a quick bike!

Well I got today on my winter beater, converted for the Inexpensive Touring bike build/challenge. It started to snow so light and fluffy.
Romantic, but slippery.
(Hmm, can you use both of those words in the same sentence? Ha-ha)
Playing with my chest mount camera on photo time-lapse. That is a snowman off the path to the left. The photo did not do the snowflakes justice, lots and falling so slowly, suspended.

Some very nice winter shots here! That one with the pine forest in particular. I miss winter.
Well, here's my last ride. This was actually last Sunday. 56 km of gravel and dirt country roads with some good deal of climbing. Last time, I did this ride about a year and a half ago and one particular climb killed me (3km at 10% average, rocky road). Back then, I had a low gear of 34x26. This time, with a triple crank and a 26x27 low gear, it was more manageable

It sure is, but you have to go through hell to get there. This lookout is at the top of that 3km 10% average climb I mentioned earlier. Some stretches hit a 15.5% grade. But all in all one of the most scenic trails in the area.

I travelled across the city to an afternoon of cribbage (community hall). Played with my chest mount camera again.
I liked this photo, arming the camera.
Stopped by the Bike Shake up at the University. Still open each Saturday. With one paid manager/mechanic. Ian appreciated some company. The city sponsors the complete building for the Community Spokes program, nice.

Rode my Trek Verve II with my wife to Tradition Field and back, about 5.5 miles. There were people lined up as the Mets pitchers and catchers arrived today. First workout open to public on Tuesday.

The weather has warmed. The Boss asked if I wanted to go play this afternoon, sure!
Up to the top end of town, literally. The overpass on the Trans-Canada. There is a sidewalk in the grader windrow.
To the far end of Thunder Bay and home, 50.4km (30 miles).

Man, I am so jealous. The last few times I have had a chance to ride it has either been stupid windy or stupid windy and raining.
