Got 22 and 21 miles over the past two days. Finally broke that elusive 20 mile mark! All flat land, sadly. Out through the dormant orchards of the Central Valley. Even with the new Marathon Supremes, the DS is a hard bike to keep rolling. I talked to the LBS and they are going to allow me to try a lighter cyclocross bike for a good ride. Sweet! I look forward to trying something different, but I'm keeping the DS for the foothills.

My plan is 200 miles for February. I'd like to see me actually break my plan!

You need to stick a fan in front of you when you ride, assuming that you aren't already--it makes a huge difference!

Another thing I recently started doing is riding to cycling workout videos that simulate a ride. In the past, I had always just rode my trainer while listening to music, but that got old fast. These videos actually make riding a trainer somewhat fun! I've been putting at least 5-6 hours of saddle time in a week vs. the 2-3 I'd do on a good week with music alone.

Went down to Louisville to pick up my wife's bike. The Big Four Bridge over the Ohio river opened this week. So we decided to swing by and take a short ride (two miles total). Pretty cool, although difficult to get through. They have the center marked for cycles only, but that doesn't stop people from walking/standing right in front if you!

It's called the Genkai Cycling Road or Sunset Road. It has a few rest stops along the way and also a separate bike path. I use the bike path in summer when the roads are busy but most of the year it's deserted.

Here are a few photographs in the Less Talk More Pics thread from a previous ride.

24 mile round trip to the LBS With a friend where I purchased a crank arm so I could work on a BB squeak that's been annoying me for a while. Weather held out on us and didn't rain on us here in south Puget sound. Was a bit cool at around 40 deg but I am in no way a fair weather rider.

Mardi Gras day and decided to stay away from the crowds. 11am on an extremely overcast day at the lakefront. Not a soul in sight.

Rode in the rain, 14 miles round trip to the upper west side of manhattan to see a lady friend.

Ladies love body by bike.

Here's a misty shot I hastily snapped at the crest of the Triboro bridge on my way to Manhattan this afternoon.

I've ridden in plenty of snow, and lots of rain, but the sleet this afternoon had a special chill to it.

Had a head cold and decided a good fast ride or a long ride would help clear it out. Mostly cloudy and not to hot, avg speed 23kph, distance of 55km, this was my turnaround point.

Sadly as you can see, the bike is on the "trainer" as we've had a rare week of several cold fronts with high winds and snow here in So. Colorado (USA)! It's usually a quick storm, the snow melts fast and I'm out and about but this last week, we've had front's every two days so it's been a bit boring to say the least. Yes, I could buy "studded tires" but I "LIKE" my bikes too much to subject them to "salt, sand and CRUD" that's on the roads here when it snows.

Just got back from a beautiful ride of back, country roads, lots of farms and open land with very little vehicular traffic - a little tough on the way back due to high winds and one really nasty hill -I ended up using the granny gear up front in order to make it up the hill - hills really are difficult when facing a strong headwind at the same time
Total mileage was 18 on the head, and took 1 hour and 41 minutes.

Loved it!
Best regards

After a trip in the rain to Gainsville for a run on no-salt items at Trader Joe's we were able to get out between the raindrops for a 17 mile run on the Withlacoochee Trail. While we were eating lunch at one of the trailheads an older guy stopped by. Come to find out he is 79 and will be 80 next week. Makes my 63 years seem small. We have seen him riding on the trail before. He just wanted to chat about our smart car. Seems he rides 10 miles every couple of days and plays golf and kayaks the others. I would say he is a pretty good role-model for the likes of me.

After 2 straight days of rain the sun came out early.... I made a little trip around town...with coffee.

Then this afternoon I rode around the little town of Climax GA where they celebrate the pig...they have a festival called Swine Time every year around the end of November.

I rode all out in the country and pretty much had it to myself riding by farms ect...and guessing where what road would take me...decided to take a dirt road thinking it would link me back to another paved road...

Really enjoyed the ride today...but it's already looking rainy again...90% tomorrow!

I didn't realize they have been having this festival since the mid 70's ...use to make fun of it. In the county I lived our main festivals were the Rattlesnake Roundup in Whigham and Mule Day down in Calvary.

Good pics Shofine. Isn't that first pic in Cairo, looking south across the tracks with the old train depot to the right? Was that before or after you went through Climax? Never been there, but I couldn't remember where Climax was and looked it up on Google Earth and saw that the Hwys 93 and 111 in that first pic were close to Climax and decided to see if I could figure out where you took the picture from. Then I googeld the Zebulon Theater and saw it is in Cairo as well, just north of that same intersection. Need to get out and ride some myself, bike has been neglected this winter, even though it has been fairly warm in the daytime I just haven't had the time or inclination to ride with the short days and the temps dropping pretty rapidly once the sun starts to go down.

Yes, that is Cairo on my wake up ride.... my old home town....kinda part time home now...would have been at my other home down at Mexico Beach but the weather has been awful! & by next weekend the forecast is to be the coldest of the year! Had to take my daughter to gymnastics in Climax about 15 miles away so I took my bike over and enjoyed the nice weather while we had it. Woke up this morning to more rain...may have some flooding if it keeps this up much longer.

Every week I visit Gion to see a client. Today I was in some back streets and found a Geiko San. Actually today is her "journey" into Gieko from Maiko San, hence the black kimono.
Today she must visit her restaurants which she will be loyal to throughout her life. These restaurants are by introduction only.

This is the stream which runs through Gion.

Went to a park south of town. All trail rides, but pretty mellow. However, it ended up being extremely muddy. Some parts I couldn't (and wouldn't) go through. I have a strong hatred for mud from off-roading trips, so I tried to stay away while riding. Bike handled pretty well, tires made it through for the most part. It was nice to get out and enjoy the one nice day we had.

Did an early AM ride down to the Orting Bakery in Orting WA. Round trip was 38 miles. Snacked on some awesome pastries and brought back some sprinkle doughnuts for my kids and a loaf of jalapeno cheddar bread for my wife. Currently editing video of the ride back since we the ride down was in the dark. Hope to have the video up soon.

Got outside for my first outdoor ride since Jan. 5th. Between the snowy and cold weather and an incredibly busy schedule, I just couldn't find the time (or the daylight!) to ride outside. I have, however, been riding my trainer for 3-5+ hours a week.

Today was the coldest ride I have done so far (mid 20s, but sunny with very little wind). It was a great ride save for a couple of close calls with motorists. One guy attempted to pull out in front of me, but didn't make it. He rode along side of me for a bit in the oncoming lane of traffic before he decided to get behind me. The other guy almost cut me off when I was in a roundabout. But besides those close calls, it was great to get out and ride!
