looking for new womens hybrid bike
My wife is looking for a new bike. We ride 15-20 times per year, about 20-25 miles per ride, usually on paved or limestone trails. She currently has a 15 year old Schwinn Searcher. It is comfortable but she says she has to work too hard. We have looked at the Trek 7300 ($530) and FX2 ($500) and FX3.($630) She wants a step through bike. She is 5'8". Budget is about $500. If the upgrade in componenets was worth it we could go $100 more. Recently, I saw a 2010 Specialized Vienna 3 for $525. I am curious about other peoples experiences and thoughts on these and other similar bikes. Thanks

They are all nice bikes, but the final decision is really hers. (Did she ride any of them?) I personally saw a difference between the FX2 and FX3, and was surprised that it was that noticeable.
Is it possible to first borrow a few different bikes to see if she feels any is a better ride for her?

you can usually find a easy gear for riding. my wife has a step through trek 7200 multitrack and it works great. I bought it some years ago at an LBS for around 400 and recently changed the stock twist shifters to trigger shifters.

I just thought I would let people know that my wife ended up buying a 19 inch Trek FX7.2 WSD. After a test ride she decided she loved the bike and would learn to mount and dismount. She hasn't had a problem yet. The largest size the stagger frame came in was a 17 inch. The Trek catalog is not correct. They said it came in a 20 inch stagger.
