New to Biking
Hey everyone,
This is my first post and I'm brand, shiny new to biking, unless you count pre-Jr. High cruiser bike. My husband just did the Face of America 2 day ride from DC to Gettysburg. He used to be a pretty great rider when he was really little. He was one of the youngest riders in a really big race in AZ. Needless to say, he loves riding and always has. But, he has recently been getting back into it and is really excited. So, since he loves it so much I am hopping on the bandwagon.
He has his own homegrown road bike that he has cut and pasted together which he really likes. He just got a cheap hybrid/ mountain bike since the ride to work is too rough for his road bike and he keeps having to repair it. He didn't spend much because he wants to save for a really nice road bike and start racing!
I just ordered a GT Transeo 2.0 - he said it was a good starter but I can't find much info/reviews on the particular bike. Any thoughts? I want it to hold up with the crappy roads here, and be able to handle gentle trails with bumps.
I have a toddler and I also just ordered the Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle trailer. I want to be able to use it to run errands, go to the park/zoo, or for longer rides on the weekends with hubby. Does anyone have any experience with this? I did a lot of looking around and it seemed like the sturdiest, safest trailer that wouldn't cost $600.
Sorry if this is the wrong section. I was under the impression that the GT Transeo was a hybrid, which is why I purchased it, but I'm pretty confused about it all and know absolutely zip! I want to learn though so any pointers on where to start would be awesome too!
Also, any recommendations on extras for my new bike so I can tailer it more to my needs?
