Congrats on the new bike. Coworker just bought a new Trek 7.4FX as his commute bike, about $700, during a sale over the Labor Day weekend. Like you, he couldn't find a 2011 in his size. Looks like the only difference is carbon fork and one more cog in back versus your 7.3FX.

Glad your wife likes the bike. After about 200-300 miles or so, you might want to bring the bike back into the shop to get it tuned up. Hopefully, you they told you about the initial break-in and gives you at least one free tune up. Most shops here do 1 year free tune ups, but some only do 1 free tune up.
