Lol, sounds just like me a year or so ago. I predict a road bike will be entering your life in the near future...

Hope you love the bike! I know I do mine 2010 Absolute 2.0. I swap my tires to some 25mm Vittoria Rubino Pro III and what a difference in low rolling resistance and uphill climbing. Planning on getting the same tires, but in 23mm when these are done with. I do 100% of my ride on pavements. Did my first 40 miles on the bike this past weekend (about 2 1/2 hrs).

As for the bike, I didn't have a chance to take a ride yesterday. I was still sore from my 18 mile Trek Navigator journey on Sunday. Going to take the Fuji out today!

Ah, I saw the scratching post...I should have figured the foil out from that!
We bought our cat a really nice scratching post/condo with the rope-y twine stuff and carpet on it, but he never took to it. The cheap $5 cardboard scraching pads from Trader Joe's are like heaven for him, though. Cats...

Hope the ride went smoothly for ya. I've been able to do 11 mile rides at a decent pace (riding for cardio, not for pleasure) on a Trek 6000 mountain bike but I'm sure I'll be able to go much further on the hybrid I ordered yesterday.

My normal weekday trip is 13 miles and I have an average speed of 14.7mph with my Trek Navigator. It's a hilly paved path. I've been out with my new Fuji 2 times now on this trip and I'm concerned. I didn't post after my first normal ride because I wanted to try it out again. Yesterday I did the trip and my average speed came out to 13.7mph. I just felt like I was struggling more than on my Trek for some reason even though everything about the bike should be faster.
So today after work I took my bike into my LBS and had them set me up. Made sure my bike was set up for me perfectly. I had the seat too low on my first ride. So I went out today on the exact same trip and had the exact same result - 13.7mph. I'm a bit discouraged to say the least. I thought I'd at minimum be a bit quicker on the Fuji. I feel comfortable on the bike but I just feel like I had to work harder on it. I did take awhile messing around with the gears before I went out yesterday and found a resistance similar to my trek.
Is this all mental or is there a chance I'm just not right for this bike? The bike felt great when I rode around at the store but there is only so much you can do while testing out a bike. I know the bike isn't a road bike but the tires are much smaller than my trek, the bike is much lighter and the components are better. It definitely "felt" the best out of the bikes I tried. I tried a Cannondale Quick, Fuji Absolute and Trek Fx.
Anyone offer any insight or suggestions?

I try not to pay much--or any--attention to speed. Get there in one piece and have a good time doing it.
