Giant Escape Differences

For anyone out there with an Escape 0 is it really worth the extra money over the 1 or 2? I've ridden the 2 and the City but not a 1 or 0. The CF fork on the 0 is a nice touch but I'm not sure if the group is much of a step up from the 2.

Bikes: 2013 Giant TCR Composite 2, 2011 Giant Defy 1

Between the Escape2, 1 and 0, the Escape 1 is the best value in my opinion. You can normally find them for under $500. I got my 2012 Escape1 last fall for $450.

I did look at the Escape0, but for $790 retail I expected more. 9speed SRAM x5, CF fork and lighter wheels are the upgrades over the Escape1, but thats a pretty big price difference.

If you are considering the Escape0, atleast wait till August when they introduce the 2013 models. Hopefully they will have SRAM x7 and a better color than white.

Downside to waiting for the 2013 models come out is running the risk of a price increase. I think that there has been a $100 total increase in prices across the spectrum over the past 2-3 years.

At least a $100. Most bikes I've seen have gone up in price and been downgraded in components.

How did you like the Escape 2 and City when you tried them? What is this SRAM VIA drivetrain anyway? Is it just a fancier name for the x4???

I liked them both. I bought the Escape 2 for my son. My brother liked it so much he bought the City. The VIA seems to work fine. He has no complaints. I like the matt colored paint on the City better than the glossy paint. I was just looking for somethign with a little better componentry than the 2.
