2012 Giant Escape 0 or 2013 Giant Escape 1?

I was wondering if the components on 2012 escape 0 is better than 2013 escape 1.

MSRP $790 for escape 0 but now have deals for $650 due to new 2013 models
MSRP $640 for 2013 escape 1.

Supposedly 2012 0 = 2013 1 .

2012 Giant Escape 0
Fork Composite straight blade
Shifters SRAM X5
Front Derailleur SRAM X5
Back Derailleur SRAM X5
Brakes Tektro Tektro Alloy
Cassette SRAM PG 959 9 speed
Chain Crankset SRAM S650 26/36/48

Rims Giant SR 2 wheelset.

2013 Giant Escape 1
Fork Carbon Composite
Shifter Shimano Alvio
Front Derailleur Shimano Acera
Back Derailleur Shimano Alvio
Brakes Tektro
Cassette Shimano HG30 9 speed
Chain Shimano M391 26/36/48
Rims Giant Alloy Double wall

Thanks for your time

Edited for better formatting.

X5 > Alivio IMO. I'd go the 2012 0 all the way. To me, the 2013 0 = 2012 0, since X5 and Deore are more on the same level. The 2013 0 is a ten speed, but other than that, I like the 2012 more (love white, love SRAM positive shifting way more than Shimano).

Until 105 level, I tend to stay away from Shimano, I've not had good luck with their lower end stuff. YMMV.

You have to ninja to find this, because the website defaults to 2012, but here's their 2013 lineup: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/...9&preview=true

Major changes and more additions to the Escape line, including Escape RX, where the 0 has 105 stuff equipped.

It is close but I would pick the 2013 1 because of the Shimano components.

PS: Both 0s have a nicer wheel set than the 1.

After trying out a Cannondale Quick 3. I ended up getting it instead since it was on sale for $699 (MSRP $940) compared to Sirrus Elite at $800. I also get better components and it was the best ride I had out of the bikes I tested.

The ride comfort seems to be the best on Cannondale then Specialized then Giant. All had carbon forks. YMMV.

Bikes tested Giant Escape 1 and 0. Specialized Sirrus Elite and Cannondale Quick 3.

Sirrus Elite and Cannondale had the best shifting between gears. Both Shimano.
Giants had SRAM and did not shift smoothly between gears. YMMV.

I'd personally derail this whole thread and go for a 2012 Giant Seek 1. And regardless of whether it derailed the thread - I did!

I just saw an RX 0 with the raw aluminum frame. Very nice bike.

fyi, that very bright silver is probably NOT raw aluminum, its bright silver paint with a clearcoat.

if the sram stuff didnt shift smoothly, I'd be inclined to suspect it was misadjusted. those X series derailleurs are excellent when setup right. My racer friends will put SRAM Red up against DuraAce
