Specialized Crosstrail fork replacement issue
Hi. I have a suspension fork, 700c, 1 1/8, threadless and I'm looking to replace it with a rigid fork, rim and disc ready and CHEAP ... I'm good with Google, but not this time... Looks like it may be easier to buy the whole bike (sirrus) than just the fork... Any suggestions or links

I'm using the original Shimano v-brakes on it right now, but one day I may go with an Avid BB6 disc setup along with a new rim. Contemplating a conversion to 700c rims front and back.
Note: this pic is outdated. I now have the adjustable stem almost dead flat and the bar ends are laid down much more flat. Lets me get more aero on the down hill and is actually quite comfortable. I'm on the bar ends inboard of the grips at least 50% of the time.

Unless you use a disc brake.
If there are cantilevers or v-brakes where the pads could go up high enough (not sure if there are) then you could use those type of brakes with 700c wheels. Or you could use the hole at the top of the crown for caliper brakes. though some additional hardware to drop the caliper brake down to the rim might be necessary.

The Nashbar fork is designed to replace suspension forks, as you can tell by how tall the crown is above the tire in my pic above.

is that for a 26 or 29 mtb? not to sure a 26 corrected fork would be right for a bike designed for 700c.

Well the key is to measure, of course. The Nashbar fork axle-to-crown of 453mm perfectly matches the extended length of my original suspension fork, yes for 26" wheels. That one you linked only has an axle-to-crown of 390mm, barely taller than the 700x35c tire itself. So yes that would definitely throw a 29er's geometry out of whack.
A suspension fork for a 29er has at least a 500mm axle-to-crown, but the OP really needs to measure and verify before looking for a rigid fork.
