Getting a Hybrid!
Hey guys! im getting a hybrid soon... and i came into these 3.
Trek 7.1 FX - S$ 585/- Trek 7.2 FX - S$ 725/- Trek 7.3 FX - S$ 905/- Can you guys recommend which one i should get? These 3 are in Singapore Dollar. And i have a few questions to ask.... 1. Do Hybrids have suspension? 2. What kind of handle bar should i get? 3. Should i get a kickstand? 4. Disc brake or normal brakes? (if Disc brake, can it be put on a 7.1?) And please tell me any tips you have!! :D Thanks you! |
Most hybrids will have a kickstand and handlebar on them when you buy it. Some hybrids have front suspension, some don't. Trek put suspension on my seat post but I don't like it (2010 Trek 7500). Some people don't like front suspensions because it limits what you can put on the front fork, like fenders or a front rack. I highly recommend putting a full set of fenders on the bike after you buy it because if you don't the tires grab any water you ride over and throw it up towards your face and on your back.
For Trek, I recommend getting the higher number/higher price models, because the components are better. The 7.1 and 7.3 use the same frame, but just about everything else is different, like pedals, shifters, etc. But this also depends on how much you plan to ride your bike, if it is going to be stored outside, etc. If you think you are going to ride your bike a lot, and if it will be kept inside (less chance of being stolen), get the 7.3. If you only plan on short rides on the weekend, or if it will be parked outside all night, get the 7.1 and spend the difference on a really good U-lock. |
Thanks man! :D guess i should start saving..

you will not be disappointed with the 7.3 , I had one last year, but got a size to large and sold it. But I did like the tide and the components that came with it. I even liked the seat... And normally I like to ride a Fizik.

For what it's worth, there was some talk about the various Trek FX model components in this thread:

Again, and just my opinion, if not the 7.4 then go for the 7.2. Good luck and best regards |

I'm very happy with my 7.3 FX. Just watch out for the bigger potholes!
