Giant Roam 3 thoughts please!

I'm looking to buy a hybrid bike for my first time.. I really am looking for the speed on the road but the comfort also on trails.. Also, the roads around me are very bumpy so comfort in mind that's what I'm truly looking for. I'm leaning towards a bike no more than 600bucks 500 and below would be ideal i know that doesn't leave me with much. If someone could help me out that would be great!
Thanks!

I purchased a Giant Roam 2 (2013) about a week ago and I couldn't be happier with it. I use it for similar purposes, a mix of light trail and road riding. Having the optional suspension really makes a difference as far as handling on bumpy surfaces. I am still new to cycling so I cannot help much as far as specifications, but I would highly recommend any Roam model.

I purchased a Giant Roam w/ disc brakes. I too use it for bumpy roads and the occasional trail. I love it. Some hybrids are more road oriented while the Roam leans more towards a mountain bike. FYI, I picked up my bike for $520. Look around, call around and see if your local bike shop will cut you a deal on a left over 2012. Good luck and bike on!

Cannondale produces a nice bike...the Quick, without the squishy fork will make a far more efficient road bike if that is of concern and will reduce the weight of the bike as well.

To the original poster. The fork on the Roam is not squishy. I know because my Roam is stiff even with the suspension fork engaged. It's also has a lockout on the fork. Hybrids can be divided into two distinct types - street versions and trail versions. Pick the type for the kind of places you plan to ride. Good luck.

Giant makes great bikes, and the Roam 3 is no exception. You get a lot for your money with Giant, and that would be a great bike, especially with the functional lock out front suspension, for when you don't want it. The 40mm tires will be quite comfy, and it's a great platform should you choose to add things like fenders, racks, etc.
It will make a great do it all bike.
That being said, make sure it fits, and you like how it rides and handles.
