I am looking to purchase my first Hybrid through the cycle to work scheme. I want to use it for canal paths and lightly wooded areas but I also want to be able to go fast on the road.

I was looking at the Scott Sportster 10 but they have sold out in my size. Do you have any other good recommendations between the £700 - £1000 price bracket you think I should try?

I was looking at the Crosstrail series but get the impression you don't get as much for your money with those?
