Anybody know the weight of a 2003 Schwinn Super Sport GSX?

As the title says, I'm trying to find out the weight of one of these bikes? Here's the link to the item: 2003 Schwinn Super Sport GSX 700c Road Bike XS Gray | eBay

I've tried searching online, but can't find anything except the shipping weight which is 50lbs, but I can't believe the bike is anywhere near that considering the components it has on it. The bike seems to be a steal for the price. Can anybody advise either for, or against it? Particularly those who own one

THanks

I'd ball park it around 21lbs or so. Looks like a good deal if it fits you. That's a proper LBS Schwinn, not an X-mart one.

What do you mean by "not an x-mart one"? This is available at Walmart and some other places online. Does this discredit it? 2003 Schwinn Super Sport GSX 700c Road Bike XS Gray: Kids' Bikes & Riding Toys : Walmart.com

Is that really a new bike from 2003??? How is that possible and if so, would the parts really be in new condition and not rusted out by sitting in a storage warehouse somewhere?

Its a dealer Schwinn being sold in oddball sizes.

Dealer Schwinns are great bikes. Ignaz Schwinn would be proud to ride them.

So the general consensus is to buy it?

At that price, it's a steal! CF fork, 400 series shifters, 105 RD, disc brakes, brand name components...hellz yeah!

N'Lightened Aluminum tubing, Schwinn's proprietary alloy tubing formulation is just sweet! Feels like a steel bike when you ride one.

You can't really go wrong with it.

I looked at the specs - its basically a flat bar road bike with disc brakes.

I would fit a M. Its a somewhat different bike from the drop bar Super Sport DBX, which is essentially a commuter bike with disc brakes.

You mean this one? 2006 Schwinn Super Sport DBX 700c Road Bike XS Matte Bronze Gray | eBay

I was tempted by it, but I read somewhere that it's over 30lbs which seems insane and possibly not true, but I didn't want to take the risk

I meant that one - I outfitted it with fenders, a headlamp and a rack and it rides pleasantly for all of 30 plus pounds but can bring home groceries in panniers reliably and securely. It also is good for the fire roads. I am running Michelin 35 C tires on it which are wide and also fast-rolling. Its not a lightweight road bike but for heavy duty tasks, its all I wanted in a commuter bike.

Schwinn has two lines of bikes. Low end models that are sold through big box stores and nice ones that are sold through proper bike shops. That's a proper bike shop bike. Note,it's being sold by an on-line bike shop through Wally World, not by them.

Unless it was in a spot where the roof leaks,I wouldn't sweat it. They wouldn't be selling it as NOS if it had issues. My Qualifier was NOS from '86,and doesn't have any rust.

I have one of those. My size L is 23lbs 12oz with pedals. I previously had an XL that was 24/4. That XS is prolly under 23lbs.

I'd say you won't go wrong with either. One thing to check on is to see if they've been set up by a mechanic or not. If not,I'd budget getting a local shop to either do an initial service,or at least take them the wheels to have them properly tensioned. New bikes from the factory are just slapped together,it's the bike shops that do the finishing touches.
