Giant Innova handlebars

Hi folks,
I am trying to dismantle my bike (a Giant Innova) for a bike box so I can transport on an airplane. I am having a hard time figuring out how to remove the handlebars. I have removed the hex bolt on the clamp at the center of the handlebars. The handlebars now rotate freely but I can't seem to remove the handlebars from the clamp. Any suggestions much appreciated!

A pic would help in determining what you are removing.
Are you trying to remove the handle bars from the stem or remove the stem from the headset?
What type of stem do you have?

Just pull the stem and bar off and rotate the bars so they fit somewhere within the box.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I visited the local bike shop and found out that I needed to remove the hex bolt at the top of the stem. I then removed the handlebars and stem in one piece. Apparently the handlebars on this bike cannot be (easily) removed as they can with some bikes...
