Howdy from Dallas, Texas!
I'm a college student based in Dallas, TX. I hail from San Juan Capistrano in Southern California, but my family moved to Topeka, Kansas almost two years ago so I've been living the farm life during the summers--studying for medical school, reading, keeping fit, and spending time with my younger siblings and parents.
I just got a Trek Verve 1, lightly used, from a local LBS in Topeka (we have three LB shops here, I think). I've been riding since I was four--my most recent ride was a $10 MTB my dad found at a garage sale some years ago. It suited my needs, but the Trek will be more suited to my riding style (i.e. mostly roads). It's definitely nicer than anything I've owned, so I'm planning to take good care of it. It may be a substitute for a car, as long as I can stretch it! Not a big fan of car repairs, monthly insurance, gas etc.
Long and short: College student, looking to go to medical school. Will use my Trek to commute. Looking forward to knowing you all!

Welcome to Bike Forums. The Trek should serve you well for commuting to college -- if it doesn't get stolen. Make sure you get a GOOD lock. Ask for recommendations in the Commuting forum or at the bike shop.
