Bikes: 2 2015 Catrike Expeditions

Trike Riders from Colorado

Hiya,

We're newbies, having bought our Catrike Expeditions last December. But we're oldies, too, as we are a few years shy of retirement and we've pedaled 1,800 miles in the seven months we've had trikes.

We're training for our first Tour of the Moon ride (ICON EYECARE TOUR OF THE MOON ? Grand Cycling Classic ? October 1, 2016), having worked ourselves up to 100 mile weekends about a month ago. Now we're working on speed. Our moving average has jumped to 14.4 MPH.

The thing is, that while we spent decades climbing mountains on weekends and hurting like the dickens on Monday, with the trikes pretty much no matter how hard we push ourselves (72 miles last Sunday!) we don't hurt.

All that to say we are pretty enthusiastic about recumbent trikes. That and we're happy to be here.

Wm & Es

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Did you change the gearing on the trikes?

Thanks.

We did install elliptical chain rings, but no other gearing changes.

It's a beaut. Great flag.

We're trying to make ourselves fast trikers, I guess. LOL. Actually, I'm just trying to gain thigh muscle.

10 Wheels,

On that gear change thing: we've seen ppl with the smaller gear intended for speed, but we've not seen those peeps ride fast. I can't say how they work. I assume they do, though.
