Hello from Tulsa

Hi Everyone! So glad I found this forum! I'm 57 and just starting riding again (consistently) since not long after high school. I bought a bike about a month ago, got it setup best I could, and did my first 22 mile round-trip ride to work and back yesterday. As I'm sure most of you are familiar with, I have found my new favorite thing! I cannot wait for the two rubber strips I used to call legs to recover so I can do it again!

Hope everyone's having a great week! Be safe!

Welcome JD. We're almost of an age, and yes it does take a bit longer to recover than when we were kids Stretching is a GREAT way to speed the process I find.

Welcome to Bike Forums JD. As you read more thru the forums you'll find that many go us got back to cycling in our 50s. For me it was 55 y/o. Take it slow and easy and you'll be riding lots of miles and passing the younger riders in no time.

Hey 10 Wheels! If I'm not mistaken, that's Tally's your sitting in front of! Awesome! If you ever come back thru, they now have "adult" milk shakes! My wife and I go there for breakfast about once a month. They have a good Bloody Mary too!

Thanks Coominya! I was going to try and stretch, but was afraid I would fall over! (Ha!) Today was my 2nd commute to work this week, and I feel much better than Monday!

Welcome! I visit Tulsa about once a year to see family, and last time I was in I fixed up a bike for myself and one for my dad. Most of the work I was able to do on my own, but some required special tools and parts that I lacked. If you find yourself in a similar need I highly recommend checking out the Tulsa Hub located downtown near the BOK Center. It's a great non-profit where they fix up old bikes and they have bench time available for folks who need to do/learn a little bike work. Great people! And congrats on all the fun you're about to start having!
