Just saying hi as I am new to the site. Here is my little back story...
I just moved to RI from NY and found that there was a bike trial 0.5 miles away from the house
It is called the East-Bay bike path and is 15miles one way of nicely paved mostly flat path which happens to start right near my house! A few years ago I weighed 340lbs after learning how to eat right and having lots of will power I am down to 205lbs and still working on it. So back to the bike trial, I never road much in NY but I had a Giant Uphill 1998 mountain bike. So I figured I should give the bike path a try, the first time out on it I got the itch and did the whole course, 30miles total, coming home I could literally barely walk up the 3 steps to my door. As I was riding my mountain bike (getting stronger and better no longer coming home with Jell-O legs) I see older folks 50-60's fly by me and they looked like they were putting in less than half the exertion that I was…but wait what are they riding?!! Road bikes!! So I was dead set on getting one myself. After about 2-3 weeks of research I bought (on trek credit) a trek 1200 road bike
Oh boy am I having fun on it!! I love the sport and doing 30-60miles in a ride now at 22mph average without breaking myself down. Though lately I have had issues with flats but I will discuss that in the forums. So now I am riding a lot and really looking into getting better and faster and going on longer rides and wouldn’t mind taking it to the next level in a year or two and do some serious marathons. Well this is all I got for now…thanks for listening
