Hello from texas

Hey guys! Getting back on a bicycle after forever without riding one. When I was a kid I used to race BMX but I haven’t touched a bike in 20 years. I finally got around to restoring my parents 40 year old austro Daimler bicycles back to their glory days. My dads was a Vent noir 2 in smoke chrome and my mothers was an Olympian in that beautiful cream color. Been going through a tough time and focusing on riding and cleaning those bikes up has helped immensely. Stoked to be back on it. Can’t wait to get a newer bicycle one day and a mountain bike as well. Hopefully you’ll be seeing me on here a lot more. Thanks! -Eric

I’m in Tyler Texas. Just been riding around town so far. I wanna get into mountain biking as well once I have some stamina and it’s not blazing hot! That and possibly take off to another state and go ride. That sounds like a good time too!

Welcome to the forum. If you can keep riding during these summer temps, the rest of the year will be like a walk in the park.

I wish! I don’t go out until about 10:30 at night! I’d probably have a stroke if I tried it in the day time 😅

hopefully you have a good light! I rode 20 miles last night. My furthest so far in somewhere close to 6 weeks of riding. I started at 3 miles lol. I tried to go for a ride this afternoon. My first daylight ride. It was miserably hot and humid. I made 7.5 miles before I tuckered out and went back home

Hey there, Vintagerose!
The light’s okay, I’m actually in the market for a better one.
I do the same thing. I split my rides up into a mid or late morning one and another between ten pm and midnight-ish. Works pretty good when it’s as hot and muggy as it has been here lately.
Detailing my fixie in preparation for tonight’s ride right now haha.

My daughter and her family live in Tyler. I live in Longview. I just bought a vintage sears in roebuck free spirit brittany. It is in mint condition. It has been hanging in the garage for the last 30 or 40 years. So I will be peddling around Longview. But unlike you I won’t be peddling late at night or in this heat. It will take me a little while to get up to as many miles as you have already traveled. I am thrilled at my FB Marketplace find. Be careful late at night in Tyler.
