Jer here in WA state

Hi,
Its good to be riding again! My brother and I did a lot of bicycling when we were in High School...that was over 30 years ago. Life happened and I only got out occasionally. This year is different . I've been commuting to work 2-3 days out of 5 plus my family (4 of us) have been out about 2X a week.

Am I out of shape! :-( I started out because I enjoyed it, now I'm thinking of better nutrition, longer rides, better gear, losing weight and getting in shape.

I commute 5 miles in to work (mostly down hill) and 7 miles back (different route). I am interested in extending my ride and working up to do one of the century runs.

Jerry

Seattle ... in the Northgate area. Thanks for asking ... I was wondering if anyone from the NW was on this forum.

Beautiful country ... though I know what you mean about the wind.

Ocean Shores here. Lots and lots of wind but no hills. It's easier to ride in the morning before the wind comes up but better training to wait until afternoon and then ride into it! Agh!!

Whatcom County---Bellingham/Ferndale. Wind in Ferndale can blow 60+mph nonstop for DAYS. Will definitely be using the tree protected routes.

Hi.. We're a couple from Amherst, MA that just spent a week discovering Seattle and vicinity. We enjoyed our travels and enjoying seeing the Yankees lose at Safeco Field. We did some biking at Friday Harbor--- from the town itself to about a mile shy of Roche Harbor and back-- and that was a run for our money. Those hilly roads were enough to make a septagenarian creek! We were tired but happy-- and it was some nice territory.

Hi Jerry, welcome to the forums! I'm in Covington and just moved over to the wet side from Spokane. I'm just beginning to find trails around here to ride....still not brave enough to try the streets with all the traffic. Looking forward to a longer riding season over here.
