Hello from Canada!
Hello Bikeforumers!
I'm a bicycle hobbyist from Canada and mostly ride for utility or recreational reasons. Nearly daily year round rider since 2023 after a heart event, ditched my car last summer and havent looked back (we are now a 1 car household - so car light). I love working on bikes and the idea of building a bike as a form of expression/ art, a means of getting around and a from of self sufficient transportation that gets us away from relying so heavily on car culture. The health benefits dont hurt either. I'm also looking forward to sharing my builds, daily drivers, biking anecdotes and learning from you guys and sharing my mechanical knowledge from fellow enthusiasts in this community.

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin!
You might consider filling in at least your general location in your profile, so it shows up next to your posts and gives other members context.
I look forward to the day when I can go car light. A cargo or urban utility eBike is a big help in this regard.
Like you, we have tough winters. I've started to address that by getting an eFatty and fitting studded tires. Now, I'm dealing with the rear brake locking up from salt spray.

Always great to see riders joining from different regions, especially with such varied terrain to explore. Cycling up there must be pretty amazing depending on the season. Getting into a new forum can feel a bit like reading amazon reviews, where you’re just trying to get a sense of what to expect. What kind of riding are you into most? Road, trails, or a mix of both? You’ll find plenty of helpful discussions here.
