Info On Miyata 0ne Twelve

Hi, my name is John from Indianapolis, I just bought a Miyata One Twelve at a second hand store and do not have any idea how old it is or how much it originally cost. Does anyone have any idea what these models originally went for? The one I have has Shimano brakes, deraliers and is grey. Any thoughts on the Miyata brand?

Hello John, a quick trip over to the Classic & Vintage forum will yield many answers.

However, it is a strict requirement that photos be posted.

Welcome to BF!

Dependson the year,a serial # may help in that regard. Miyats's gone ,so is the original pricing and much imfo. in general. The 112 is probably an 84 or newer, a $250 bke perhaps. A good bike , Miyata's base-entry level. assuming you spent less than $75 for it, which I'm SURE you DID, it's worth every penny. I've own over a doxen Miyatas,I presently have only nine. I owned a 1980 110,a different bike in a few ways.

overpaid oops

Thanks for the response. I guess I made a mistake because I spent$140.00, but it is in perfect condition and actually looks link it has never been ridden. do you know if it is possible to add brake levers for the top of the handlebars. I can always return it for another seven days. John

Does this help?

Miyata 112

I bought a new Miyata 112 in 1989 in the Boston area. My understanding was it was near the bottom of their line. The original price was $600 (maybe this was list), and I bought it during a sale for $300.

Every spring I say I'll look into a new bike but after a few rides I stick with this one for the rest of the riding year. I estimate I've put about 15,000 miles on this bike and it is still all original equipment, except of course tires and cables. A couple of back wheels had to be replaced due to a couple of mishaps. I'm not a small guy and I like to push it for a workout, typically 20 miles per ride. Therefore, it is one very sturdy bike.

I have the owner's manual, which I have scanned and could e-mail to you.

You know, ask the C & V folks about that offer, and I'll bet you have some takers!

Thanks, and welcome to Bike Forums, Mike!
