Hello, Long time lurker.
I'm a student in Philadelphia studying animation. Biking has always come naturally for me and has always been the preferred mode of transportation (Although I read MotorTrend and enjoy cars in other respects).
More recently I have become fond of long distance rides. Did my first in august of 2003 at around 25 miles round trip and since have done the York County rail trail to the Maryland line a few times over (once with my 12 year old sister in tow) and York city to Lancaster city at 53 miles. I'm aiming for a possible York To Philadelphia this summer. I don't know, I like the good ol' Lincoln Highway.
I currently ride a free spirit picked up off someones lawn for 10$, a '89ish GT Mach One BMX, and my newest, An Alpha fixed gear. The only original part on it is the frame so kinda happy about that, Im from Philly, I know the bad reputation. But i can't take the credit for the wrench work. Bought it used off CL.
Currently falling to pieces and riding it brakeless freewheel.
In need of some TLC but I always take it down to the beach with a fresh wash,grease and scrub (but the rust comes right back 2 weeks later, must be the salt air)
The bike with the bad rep. I'm so prowd.....

Hi JKM, so what made you go for the Alpha then? I know it's not because of the good looking rear dropouts. How does it handle, anyway?

The straps clip the pedals on turns but this isn't the first bike I'v had do that. The lack of rake equates to a shorter wheelbase. But I like all of these thing as they make it a quick, yet firm little bike. I was always drawn to them for the aesthetics of the frame. I can't believe they actually try to market it otherwise. Its purely aesthetic IMO and the combination of it and bullhorns (although mine are not the stock, they are profile design airwings) make it look sharp, to me.

It's overall a nice little bike (although I still don't like the rear dropouts ;D ). I've never seen one here in Puget Sound.

I see it as theft deterrent. Even here in the bike's hometown (Frankenstein Bike Works On Spurce St. is the place that makes them) No body wants them.
