Baltimoron's introduction
Greetings, everyone!
I'm Liz, a 31 year old woman living in Baltimore, MD, USA. I've been mountain biking (XC, recreationally) for a few years, and just bought my first road bike last night. Between the two, I expect to be doing a fair amount of biking, and I'm really looking forward to it!

Well Hun, even Baltimorons know Baltimore (Bawlmer) is nicknamed "charm city", or also "the city that reads" (I think I read the benches at the bus stop right). Just be careful not to get a flat tar on some of those rough city roads!

Liz, I live in the Balto. suburbs. May I suggest some BBC rides (check their web site...do a "Baltimore Bicycling Club search)....or if you are fast (or just want to be), try the Wednesday night training ride out of Oregon Ridge park. The ride leaves promptly (more or less) at 6 PM from the Oregon Ridge parking lot. There are usually sevaral women on this ride. The pace at the front is 20-22 MPH for the 31 mile loop, but with 20-30 riders, there is always somebody to ride with.

greetings from another local. do you live in the county or in the city? i live in the county but i commute to the city during the week. theres lots of cyclists around here but i know only a handful of them. its nice to know there are other people from baltimore who will be sweating and cursing at the oppressive humidity that we have yet to encounter... that torture makes me a stronger rider
never thought about it but are there a lot of people from baltimore on this forum? ill have to do a search now...

Hi Liz!
I'm in Hampden, hon, and a couple of us are starting to organize after work rides. Once wifey and I have out 1st child, we'll be pulling the little one up through Druid Hill park. Espcially now that the protected bike lanes are finished.

Hi Liz,
I am yet another Balto biker babe (Mt.Vernon) that is. I got into biking in the city a little over 2 years ago. I just got a good road bike and hope to be racing soon. I am glad to hear you are into it! have fun!
...and to the rest of you, I am new to the forum and will most likely ask a bunch of questions about how to get started racing (besides the start line) and other things related. So if anyone has immediate feed back on this matter I will get back to you immediately.
Thanks...
