newbie from KS
Hello all, I am returning to bicycles after a 45 abscence, bought my first ever new bike yesterday. I picked up a Giant Sedona ST, looking to get started reasonably inexpensive. I am in fairly good shape for my age, just dealing with a little high bp and don't care to go on medication, so am hoping this takes care of it. Have been on motorcycles all my life, so I love riding, just new to bicycles and, got to say, they have come a long way! Anyone have any advice for a newbie to the sport? I just want to get in better shape and enjoy the road. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Bike Forums.
Advice? Get out an ride and have fun.
I'm 67 (coming up on 68) and there are lots of others on here older than me. I see you've already found the 50+ forum. Lots of good advice there for "older" riders.

Hi Oldfeller and welcome to bf. Yep, just keep it fun. I am 53 and I know a couple of guys even older than RonH that are pretty fast. Course I am just plain slow.

Hey Old guy from Kansas, I live in Las Vegas now but lived in Manhattan and then Barber County way back when. Riding bikes is a good step in the right direction for your BP. I was in decent enough shape, but the cardio vascular needed improvement. Now I pride myself on hearing the nurse ask what 20 year old did I steal the BP and heart rate from. I do 3-5 decent rides a week. 60-120 minutes a ride. Plus getting outside is great for clearing the brain. Welcome aboard! 58 y.o. here.
