Just to close the loop on this thread, I successfully completed the 200k on my Trek 820 with the existing Tioga City Slickers without a single flat. I even survived the clam shell fragments that littered parts of the East Bay bike path and claimed a few tires. While I easily made the time limit, I'll admit I was the last to finish. I can't blame the tires though. Besides the fact that I'm fairly slow anyhow, I was battling a bike-fit issue. I suspect my cleat setup is wrong as my lower biceps femoris were super sore less than 20 miles in. I toughed it out, but I had to avoid much exertion, spinning up the modest inclines in super low (28-32). Still, I had a blast, can't wait to do it next year!

Not typically, although I will admit my last one may have been that case since I was hasty and inflated to 90 psi right away after replacing the tube, although I was using a floor pump and not CO2 so it wasn't super fast. I usually inflate part way, then squeeze the tire to make sure the tube isn't under the bead.

Thanks @clasher and @ThermionicScott!
I think I'm going to switch to plain pedals for a bit until my soreness subsides.
