Bianchi Volpe as a randonneuring bike
I know any bike can be used to ride a brevet, but is there anyone using a Bianchi Volpe as a randonneuring bike?

One of the regulars on the OR Randos brevets rides one, with a low-trail for & bar bag a la Francais. Seems to do quite well for him as he always finishes in the front half.

In addition to thousands of other miles, I've used one for a couple of 200ks and a 300k and a non-event 175 mile one-day ride. It worked well. The nice thing about the Volpe is the room for wider tires; I used 32 Paselas. It's not an especially light bike; its stock geometry does not make for a very good experience with a fully loaded handlebar bag--I'd get a rack; and it's not going to "plane" (don't ask!) for you. But it's a solid bike that you can beat crap out of.
