I've found that bike racing just doesn't leave me much time for motorcycling... not if I also want to sleep or work.

A'Jet, Very cool and congrats on the maiden voyage. I was happy to see that you did not do a copy cat exit and dismount like the guy in the other video.

I have to admit that I was concerned/terrified about numerous matters including keeping speed in the turn, which had me riding too fast when exiting. Once the apron is complete and construction materials are removed the pucker factor goes down considerably.

We were in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach for a "July 4th Destination Wedding". I would take Nags Head over that area any time for numerous reasons. Next weekend we travel to central PA for a reception for the same couple. Three weeks of weddings means missing the State Masters RR, the local July 4 age group race, and the stage race that has been an annual "A" race.

Getting ready to head out for a Tuesday ride, maybe with the group for a short ways, in very foggy conditions. I'm meaning to stick to the plan of warm-up, then jump intervals, then high speed pacing, then coming home. All for about an hour. There will be no serious climbing, although it's impossible to avoid "going up hills" in this area.
I had a very strange dream last night about racing my bike. I was riding in mud with lead or concrete filled legs that would not respond or turn over no matter what. And that was after finding my bike, which had been hidden from me - and then discovering that someone had taken the pinch bolt out of the seat mast clamp, and the saddle wouldn't stay in positon. Pre race jitters manifest themselves in pretty funny ways!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

And guess what! There is now officially a 50+ Racing Forum, so I'll close this for now, and leave it as a redirect. In a week or so, this can be reopened as a streanm of consciousness thread for the new forum and moved there. For the moment, though, I'd like to use it for the announcement and redirect.

It was too bad that the TTT was canceled. It was the championship TTT and there were no other races that conflicted. Oh well, we lost the Berkeley TTT due to lack of participation and we lost the championship TTT.

I guess if you do 3 races in 4 days, then throw some intervals on top of it, it might be a good idea to eat something?
Just had a cheeseburger, fries and chocolate shake - feelng much better!

Oh sh*t. My meteoric rise as a bicycle racer has been halted, at least temporarily, by an imbecile in a Toyota.
I'm approaching a roundabout. ( I know these things are exotically rare in the USA, but I hope some of you understand the principle). Visibility is good, there's nothing approaching on my right (we drive on the left...), i have the right of way, so I proceed. It's slightly downhill, I cross at c.15 mph, maybe a shade faster - I'm accelerating. The Toyota drives straight out in front of me from my left. I hit the brakes and his rear door virtually simultaneously and am catapulted right over the roof of the car and onto the road. The point of my shoulder takes the impact, glancing blow to my temple, various grazes and contusions. Police, ambulance, x-rays and four hours in Accident and Emergency later, I am discharged home with a separated shoulder, probable torn ligaments and an appointment with the orthopods and for a scan tomorrow morning.
Nothing broken, surprisingly, but the soft tissue damage looks severe, my left shoulder has been moved a couple of inches down my side. Hurts like hell. I am not amused.
And my lovely vintage Raleigh is dead. Both top and downtubes are like origami.
