I won't be watching the men's TT until tonight (Pacific Daylight Time). Either wait until tomorrow or I'll have to stay out of this thread until tomorrow.

I like the thrones for the time trialists as they finish for the top 3 places. I am going to talk with Adam at VSP about getting thrones for us.

Just finished watching both the women's and men's. Was anyone else offended that the best they could come up with for an Olympian was a P3?
Armstrong was imperious.
Wiggans rode a perfectly paced effort. While I admire his talent and execution, he's not someone I find compelling. Whiny in defeat and not magnanimous in victory.
Go Sir Hoy.

Kristen dominated and crushed. Her TT style is similar to mine and I will be channeling her in my upcoming TTs.
Bradley...stfu already. You crushed it. You rule. Quit whining already. It detracts from your winnings.

Armstrong rode superbly. What is it about Americans called Armstrong? I had expected Arndt to win. Wiggins delivered, as usual this year. That's quite a season he has had. Like him or not, he has caused the country to go nuts about cycling in a way that all the track success - to which he was a big contributor, of course - did not. Must say, having seen most of his interviews, I dont understand the references to whining. We'd describe him as fairly self-deprecating, I think. Froome did OK too, I'm really interested to see how he goes in the Vuelta.
Ex, I don't want to be picky but with knights, you can't use the title without their first name. So it has to be "go Sir Chris" or "go Sir Chris Hoy" or "go Hoy". It can't be "go Sir Hoy". Now, with Lords, it's the other way around. The title has to be coupled with their last name. Can't understand why you Americans don't know these things. LOL.

Watching the rowing on the Olympics. It's a sport I might have been suited to - big, long levers, decent aerobic capacity, endurance rather than speed-oriented. Not quite as suited as a British oarsman named Peter Reed, though. He has the largest lung capacity ever recorded - 11.62 litres!! Makes Big Mig look like he suffered from emphysema.
He was born in Seattle but his family came to the UK when he was just a few months old.

It may be wrong. Unfortunately, though, it's right. Right as in correct, that is...
EDIT. Actually, with Lords, it's even more complicated because they can choose a title that is different from their name. So were Racer Ex elevated to the Peerage, as no doubt he deserves, he could choose to be "Racer Ex, Lord Lactate". But let's save those technicalities for when it happens.

Speaking as a Brit I thought that starting and finishing at Hampton Court Palace was no excuse for the tacky thrones stunt.

Back to the surgeon today to let him and a physio have a look at my shoulder. Good news and bad. No need for surgery, but still a way to go before the joint settles down. When I talked about riding my road race next week I thought the physio was going to faint, poor girl. She doesn't even want me on a bike, other than a trainer or stationary bike, for another three weeks. I spared her feelings and didn't tell her I'd been riding around for the last ten days or so.
She's right about the race, though. I still can't tolerate being in the drops for more than a few seconds at a time. Ho hum. More tedious hours at the gym.

Chasm, Glad your shoulder is getting better albeit slowly. In 2010, I was warming up on the rollers at masters track nationals getting ready for my individual pursuit. Another racer distracted me and I fell off the rollers (was on my track bike) and hit the cement - gashed my thumb, bloody sore elbow. When I got home, my elbow was really sore. I went to an ortho who took xrays. The bone was fine but he said the place where I hit bruised the tendon. In that location, it will take about 2 years to heal. It was my turn to almost faint. However, he was right. I can still feel it if I put weight on the spot but there is no longer any pain with movement.

"Somehow" I "won" a SuperSix EVO on ebay. Haven't quite figured out a way to break the news to the Mrs. Won't build it up until after this season is over, but I'll have a 52 cm 2010 SuperSix Hi-Mod for sale later this year.

Here is an article written by Adam Duvendeck, USA track cycling Olympian 2004 and 2008, and Director of Velo Sports Center. Here is a pic of him leading in team sprint in 2004 Olympics.

Here's an article about the investment and long-term planning that has gone into the GB cycling and rowing teams. I thought Brailsford's comments on Pendleton having been prepared to lose to improve were interesting.
