AJ - That was Unisom-assisted sleep, otherwise I'm up at least once a night.

Its my custom to make a cup of expresso and sit out on the porch in the early afternoon.
With an eye on the left over excess Halloween give away loot from last night I snagged a mini KitKat bar to munch w/ my expresso.
The 10 year olds have got it right, these are delicious! Who needs biscotti?

I feel like a kid waiting for Santa Claus only this time it is for the Fed X driver delivering my iPhone X. Should I put out milk and cookies?

More like armed guards.

I had to laugh. First, because the thieves were described as "hoodie wearing", which in San Francisco is only moderately more defining than "oxygen breathing".

The other part was mostly schadenfruede, thinking about the "geniuses" being yelled at by a bunch of hipsters who's Friday night will be ruined because they can't show off their new phone.

Hope your new toof goes well Mr Hermes!
I was on tooth a year plan two years running, turns out it's common that the mirror (on t'other side) is prone to cracking as well.
My guy drills once, and then ratchets in the implant, no pin and sighting - perhaps due to location?
He puts a rubber blank in place, hence the gum heals to the same hole/angle as the abutment.
Any road, "...a tool with a ratchet" is likely cutest lil' torque wrench, have'm show it to you, cool beans!
Likely it will come out for "torque test" after the bone healing phase.

"We" did prefinish up, down and on the stairs as well, the "stranded bamboo" which is no more that bamboo fiber reinforced resin - hard, durable, and heavy af.
"We" used the transition pieces (for tile edge, stair noses, hearth surround) offered by supplier, matching finish/colour.
Well, "we" have some lighting fixture installation and electrical work to do.

The iPhone X is very interesting. I really like the facial recognition and the new controls. In combination, it is much faster to open and navigate. And the OLED screen is amazing and the new camera tricks very cool.

I got a flu and tetanus shot last Wednesday. I have been feeling less than optimum and slightly sick. Maybe a mild flu.

In other news, my SRM power meter was shipped today and due on Friday.

I am reading The Brave Athlete: Calm the F*ck Down and Rise to the Occasion. The authors are local and belong to the Cryotherapy salon that we use. The book is about sports psychology for endurance athletes and it is excellent. I have found most sport psychology books and ideas not that helpful. Making sports psychology operational seems to be the hard part for me. The authors do an amazing job of explaining brain anatomy and function as it relates to athletic performance in a relatable way. What they say makes sense and seems possible to use in practice to improve performance. Time will tell.

I’ve got that book too and found it pretty well written. Things that applied to me especially are the differences between legit quits and **** quits and the difference between having a strong identity as an athlete and a mature identity. I’ve found that mine is more strong than mature.

I had a strange experience on my ride last Tuesday. I stopped to fill my bottles in Continental, AZ, a planned retirement community south of Tucson right off of I-19. The folks there are my age peers, but it felt...creepy being around such a high concentration of them. Am I alone in this?

Nope. I've been interacting a fair bit with my HOA as of late. The majority of folks who show up at the meetings are older than I am. Not really what I see in my day to day interactions or riding, so yeah, it's a little odd.

I pick up my bike from the shop with the refurbished power meter.

I purchased an Apple watch series 3 non cellular version. So far, I like it a lot and purchased a sleep app called Autosleep. It tracks sleep and provides metrics on HR, time and quality of sleep. Time will tell how well the app works and if the results are meaningful. Is there a difference measured in quality of sleep after a hard training day versus a rest day??? Does it matter or is there anything one can do about it?

My idea was that monitoring sleep and trying to improve it, would be a good thing for health and well being.

I had the SRAM Red Etap installed on my bike. The goal was to change to 11sp electronic shifting without purchasing a new frame and having to install wires. My current frame was not drilled for wired electronic shifting. I test rode the new setup and it seems to work fine.

Instead of the standard garage door photo, I took a selphie with my iPhone in the portrait mode. What I wanted to showcase was my impeccably clean chain and derailleur. @Cleave chain and derailleur always looks this good. I think he puts on new stuff for each ride.

I've been coordinating a Tuesday night ride leaving from a local Smokehouse and Brew Pub for several years. The group has grown in numbers and quality of riders showing up each week. The guys and gals are riding too fast for late November, IMO, due in part to the KOM's along the way. Last week in the dark and 40 degrees temps 10 of us averaged 20.8 mph. I made next week's ride a KOM free route. That should go over good with some of them.

Yet another reason my coach had us convert to ~70 GI fixed for winter base miles "back when".
That was a treatment for the testosterone poisoned as well as to condition a smooth pedaling style via the relentless feedback loop provided by the FG drivetrain.
Want to go "Fast"? Easy, just pedal >120RPM and 25 Mph is all yours.....

You Ohio guys are tough.

My wife and I rode 2 hours on T-day starting from Rose Canyon climbing up to UCSD and then descending Torrey Pines to the ocean. The temp was 85 until we descended to the coast and it dropped to 72 degrees. There was some kind of odd inversion.

My maiden voyage of the new SRAM ETAP was excellent. Although, I am still getting used to the different shift patterns for the rear der where one uses the left shifter to shift up and the right shifter to shift down. Pushing both together simultaneously shifts the front der. I really like the electronic shifting and light touch.

Helmet straps

I gotta ask a dumb question about helmet straps. I am refitting an old helmet and can't figure out how the rear fork straps go. Not the straps that hold the helmet down on your head. These go thru a plastic folk in back, I guess for additional stability. On an old Giro.
I would add a picture but am not allowed... says to put a link I need points. how to get them?
