10 days is tough, but you enlisted her help for a reason. You were putting up strong results as the season progressed valygrl, so I look forward to seeing what's on tap for next year. Try and keep that in mind, but you have my sympathy.

Thanks LAJ. It's true, I know I paid for this and I'm going to do it, I was just whining for sympathy here, thanks for giving it.
It doesn't help that I am trying to lose a couple pounds that keep yo-yo-ing on and off, so while I'm not riding, I don't get to count those ride calories towards my net daily intake, so I'm pretty much starving. i feel sorry for my husband. ;-]
I was on the RMCC ride last saturday, didn't see you, was wondering if you are all healed up.

@valygrl, 10 days without significant aerobic exercise always sounds like a lot but it goes by quickly if you do all of those things that you put aside so that you can train. That's what I did a couple of years ago when I crashed and broke my face (orbital). The time went by pretty quickly.
Riding less is almost harder than stopping altogether. Rode easy to San Diego (100 miles) with my club on Saturday. It was hard staying away from a big effort on the Torrey Pines climb when the hammerheads took off. I was at the very back of the group and it took me a while to catch one of our non-climbers. He said he was wondering where I was and he was going to give me a ration if he "beat" me up the hill.
Also I finally found a new belt for my very old set of rollers. Decided to see if it works instead of going to the velodrome tonight. Also have a few things to get done tonight. We'll see how a 20 minute ride goes (assuming the belt works).

Racer X ride on Saturday and I led the ride on Sunday up north. Nice super easy 50 miles with Peg from Psimet and Becky from Novo Nordisk. I started healing 4 days after surgery, once the dressing came off. That meant I could take a shower, which allowed me to hit the trainer, and I honestly think I'm better than healed. Thank you for asking.

Sprited group of 10 on last night's ride. I put the PT head in my jersey pocket just to see what we are doing in the dark. The 10' PP was surprisingly higher than I expected. The only downers were that I lent my spare headlight to someone then mine acted up during the ride, and one rider showed up with cross bike and tires. He did OK on climbs, struggled sitting in, and was a group anchor on descents.

These long weeks are becoming my "new normal." One big change is that I've been friggin' starving, wanting to eat anything that wasn't tied down. Sometimes I resist, sometimes I give in and eat something healthy, sometimes I backslide a bit. I guess burning 2k+ calories/ride might have something to do with it. Is this common, or just another phase of my dotage?

It seemed a lot colder than 42 degrees on this evenings ride. I didn't wear toe covers and eat anything making the last 45' chilly.

So, I put the TT bike on the trainer last night and was on it at 0525 this morning. The PT worked fine, but I didn't. I'm looking forward to structure. My "off season" is more like "lost seasoning". Ex, I'm trying to get a leg up, here.
BTW, the fit on the TT bike is still W R O N G. I get on the sticks and my power just goes...
...down. Something ain't right.

Oh, I'm now a member of Cushman & Wakefield for the 2014 season. I'll be racing with two other 40+ ladies on the team. Oh, yay!!!

1:20 of recovery with Lucas. Well, more like 1:19 of recovery and 1' of z5 when he tried to take me in a sprint for the house.

Did a charity ride sponsored in part by the club I'll be racing with next year. I went with the club's paceline...pulled off after about an hour, since this is still supposed to be base for me. The highest hour was nine watts under my FTP. Friggin' whippersnappers...
After tomorrow's ride, this will be my second consecutive 900+ TSS week. Same deal next week. I'm looking forward to my recovery week, except it'll be ****ing.

Sara - I've had a complete rest day and a recovery ride each week. My rides have been 2:30 - 4:30, with one per week having three or four 20 minute intervals of ~95% FTP...and an unplanned 30 minute segment yesterday at over FTP. When I ride alone, I keep it in Z2.
Congrats on the new team! The old ladies are gonna be beatin' up the young'uns.

Went with a big group up my favorite Socal climb yesterday, route 39. I always see some of my Adobo friends (large Filipino club) up there, and yesterday they had a huge group ride pulling out as we arrived... maybe 50 or so? Also saw some vaguely familiar green and white team doing some secret training.
First real climbing since last winter. Base pace, but climbing is never easy.
