Some nice evening/weekend rides out of Mechanicsburg if you're interested in sticking around after your work day. Check the Harrisburg Bike Club website - https://www.harrisburgbicycleclub.org/ - or shoot me a pm if you have questions.
Welcome!

I live in Wilkes-Barre.... And one of these days I may convince myself to splurge on one of Rich's bikes... In the interim, I'll just have to keep going in to buy the small stuff when I need it. In fact, I think I'll drop in tomorrow to get a chain.
Minichamp31, what kind of riding do you do?

If you're looking to just get out for a quick spin, head over to the riverfront. Starting at Front and Market, take the bike path all the way up to Division St., head south back to the Walnut St. bridge (the walking bridge), cross over to City Island, loop around the path on the island, head back over to Front St., back up to the path, head South into the Shipoke area and loop north again to Market St.
I don't know the condition of the path down along the river - whether it's been swept or not - so you might fare better staying up on the path in riverfront park. When I lived downtown I rode this loop quite a bit - quick and dirty, about 8 miles for the whole loop. Just head out and keep looping it til the sun sets
I coach a Spinning class at the Y (Front and North Streets) at noon a couple of days a week. If you can't get outside and want to get a workout in, stop by on a guest pass.
Have fun; pm if you want to find a group ride next week (possibly Saturday as well).

Unfortunately I'm leaving friday
I saw all the HBC rides start next week!
I will definitely head out on the greenway though tomorrow(still got some saddle sore that needs healin'). I'm assuming the riverfront you're talking about is the greenway I keep hearing about. Thanks again! I hope this weather persists!

Actually, you might be hearing about the Capital Area Greenbelt - a ride you'd be better off doing on a hybrid. The loop I'm talking about is all riverfront - all the way north to the city line at Division St., south to the line in Shipoke, and over and around City Island. No way possible to get turned around in direction

Finding a ride for you, branman1986, might be a bit of a challenge from center city. Do you have a car? I think a Clark's valley ride is a better representation of our area. And once there, there is no chance of getting lost. Beautiful scenery along the creek, but has low-volume yet hi speed traffic.
If you could be there outside of "rush hour", I think it would be fun. The route is here
Mapquest directions to are here.... Should be plenty of parking at the intersection of 225 and 325, as this creek is popular with trout fishermen.

I ended up riding north up Market Street in traffic then cut west to the river and headed down the greenbelt/riverfront path, past a few bridges, then when the path ran out I took a left and went back on Market street. I did the loop a bunch of times and it was great.

Sup everyone, Im from Dover PA.
Im pretty new to mountain biking, have done a lot of bmx in the past at chicky's rock in lancaster and some local places. Switchin over to mountain biking and looking for some trails and stuff to start off on. Ive ridden at pinchot park just around the lake, no real fun terrain tho. nearly died there over the spring break, would have been a shame.
Im lookin to buy my own bike, not a new one tho. I broke my brother's rim and am not allowed to ride his bike anymore.

Air Force heh? My kid got out two weeks ago after 4 1/2 and a year in Korea. Now he's home and helping me get ready for the Cat Classic MTB Race up near Williamsport PA.
The event features a MTB, an Off Road Run and a MTB/Run Duathlon.
Featuring a College MTB Team Challenge too.
Gnarly and beautiful course. Great Prizes. $2,000 Exp/Pro money. Great spectator course.

Spending most of my time behind the camera or on digital retouching of images (the day job that supports my cycling habit
), I had to get pretty far out of my box to do those photos. It was fun, though, and was humbling to be considered in such a talented and diverse group of fitnes pros. Thanks, papedaler - perhaps we'll run into one another on the road somewhere this year!
