Not a problem at all, We have 2 acres with nothing but open fields around us,and the neighbors never know what to expect from us. Plenty of bike parking. We can make it a tent city..Or I can rent out beds in the pop-up..

I got dibs on one of the pop up bunks.

Josh-For tomorrow I have a BBC ride that starts pretty close to my house that I might want to do , so if Sunday works for MTB, let me know. My wife leaves at 10am to take care of her parents, I need to be back by say noon latest, 15 year old holds down the fort in the breach.

It says rain/snow for Sunday, we'll see.

It's getting too crappy around here, lately. I think I'll go somewhere warm next week.

Best car I ever drove was a 66 Ford Falcon, three speed on the column, drove it cross country and back in 81. It was my friends car, I think he paid about 500.00 for it. I paid 350.00 for my 66 Mustang, worn out rings and all, but what an engine, straight six, simple as pie. I'm jealous.

I occasionally do Ebay searches for old Falcons, would love the wagon.

Brrrr! It was a cold ride. It never got over 30 degrees F--averaged 26 degees F. It started to snow during the last 25 miles of the ride.

We had nine riders show up. Four riders where on two tandems.

Did I mention that it was cold! I finally had to use my chemical hand warmers.

This is my 19th century ride if I count the Ocean City, MD trip as one century since it's not quite a double century at ~190 miles.

As of today, I'm at 11,077 miles for the year.

There were numerious accidents, especially around bridges/suspended roadways. It was a crawl all of the way home.

I don't understand why MD SHA wasn't out there laying out salt. Doing so would have been much cheaper than all of the accidents that occurred--one involved at least 6 vehicles.

You've sure got me beat. I've got 15 centuries so far with one more to go for my 2008 century challenge. I bet I've got Janet G. beat on centuries this year though. :p

I might do the dry run of the On Again/Off Again route on monday.

I know it's only the 6th of Dec, but I'll throw some 2009 personal goals into the ring:

1. I'll officially end the century-a-month challenge, BUT I will do more than 16 total centuries for the year anyway.
2. I'll do at least one 300K and hopefully a 200 miler.
3. More total miles than 2008. Can I do 10K? Not sure, but I know my new commute adds 1 1/2 miles each way (800 miles at the end of the year!) and I can easily commute more days/nights than I was able to do at the beginning of 2008. Maybe I'll see the mighty 10,000.

No mountain biking for me tomm, Any rides tomm? as long as I can be home by about 130pm or so, I can start anytime.

Hey GB-I have similar goals for 09 but am reluctant to put them out there. 10k is the number I've been thinking of. A century a month is a good goal, a double century is another, a week long self supported tour is another. My main goal is to do less flat miles and more elevation gain. That's one stat that I'm surprised not to see on the signatures. Let's figure out how tall the Empire State bldg is and see who climbs the most at the end of 09. I should know I used to work on the 48th floor.

I did Janet's ride from Meadowood yesterday, got dropped going up towards Mays Chapel and rode solo the rest. It was cold and windy and it would have been easy to take a short cut but I need many more miles so I stuck with it and did the 45 plus 10 out an back to the start, my computer actually came up with 58.
Didn't take any breaks until the end when I stopped at that store on Park Heights to adjust my seat and gulp down some hot chocolate.

Weirdest thing happened up near Hampstead while riding along a guard rail, my bike was making this sort of harmonic sound all through the frame. I guess it was some sort of weird air movement thing but it kept going even after I stopped and got off.

The problem with elevation is that everyones yardstick is a different size. Typically, my iBike reads 1,000ft lower than when I process the ride through Training Peaks WKO+. Bones in Motion has yet another number and if I export the GPX ride file from BiM and import it into MotionBased or Bikely I'll get other numbers. So, which number is correct? I tend to think that my iBike number is, because the bike tilt is zeroed out, but then sampling rates and the filtering can have an effect on that number.

Obviously, there is no clear answer, because there's no standard.

Good point. My GPS Vista can be wildly inaccurate. I used it in Death Valley last Feb and it marked my elevation gain to Towne's Pass to the foot, identical to the elevation on the sign. (no trees)
Did that Autism ride at O Ridge back in April and a guy with one of the other Garmin 305 or 705s had like 1500 more feet than me, that's huge.

I can see why all the BBC rides were cancelled today, I went out and nearly got blown over more than once and on flat ground where I can do over 20, I was in low gear pushing 11mph.

I can deal with cold and windchills, the wind makes it just suck. After 10 miles or so I just went home.

Maybe if I get a time trial helmet it won't be so bad, more aero.........joking.
