A buddy, here at work, has resigned so that he can move closer to his grand-kids in Florida. We're taking him out to lunch today. After that, I have no problem with leaving for the day.

Agreed. I left at my usual time from work. The sun even made an appearance at that time.

This morning, Friday, is quite a different story with the glaze of ice on some of the side roads. It's the 3rd day this year that I haven't ridden my bike to work.

I rode in only to get a flat 4 blocks from home. Ran home w/ the bike woke up my daughter(2 hrs late for school) and got her to drive me to the train...the last am train for the day. just made it. was icy tho'...for those 4 blocks. DC area was w/out ice so the southern terminus ride was sweet.

How good is Performance Bike in Towson MD?

How good is Performance Bike in Towson MD? - Does it have as much selection as the Gaithersburg store? or is it better?
Thanks

Depends on what you are looking for. I think they about the same size. I went there today to buy some cold weather gear and they were out of balaclavas.

I see where there is a huge Swap Meet near Westminster this weekend.
https://rpmcycling.com/swap_meet.html

I'm going to see if they got any leg warmers and a new riding jacket

The Towson store is definitely bigger than Gaithersburg, but not by much. Both are smaller than Rockville.

swap meet was excellent. Scored some campy touring pedals, new tire&tube for $5(mine self-destructed last Friday and am waiting for schwalbe marathon plus shipment), salmon kool stop canti pads for a buck! plus other junk. There was a real nice Serrotta for sale, $600. I was so tempted. Anybody else go?

todays commute was brutal...11F tomorrow single digits...7F

I wound up buying a lot of cold weather gear on Saturday at Performance during thier Winter Sale. I went out and rode yesterday morning to test out the stuff. It was in the mid to lower twenties when I went out and warmed up to about 29 or 30 by the time I got back home. I need a little heavier baclava and some better gloves. Other than that everything worked out great. I didn't make it to the swap though because I went to a friend's open house instead. I hope there is another one of these type of bike swap meets in the future. Shame I couldn't make it. I'd like to know when they are in advance so I can save some green to take with me.

Later gator

I was gonna go, but my friend bailed on me. There wasn't anything I really needed so I didn't bother.

I went. I guess I was expecting more retail vendors, but it was mostly like a flea-market for bikes. We did buy some clothing, but no bike parts. There was a Calfee bamboo bike there with wooden wheels which was pretty cool. It was *very* crowded which made for difficult navigation through the aisles, but overall not too bad. MC was Bruce Culver (formerly of Liberty Bike Shop).

How is Bruce doing? Did you get to talk to him? I am still curious about the situation surrounding his sale of Liberty Bike Shop.

12F this morning and just a little bit of a breeze. Not too bad of a bike commute to Towson.

The ice spots on Rossville Blvd are increasing since the city is having a hard time keeping up with the many water main breaks. Be careful.

He's doing well. I think he's a district manager for HTO so he'll be staying in the are as far as I know.

This am was cold. my water froze in only 25 min ride to the train. Lock was frozen as well. Luckily I bought some little alcohol tubes for car locks last fall. I never warmed up on the second ride to work. Spring where are you?

got in a quick 20 miles today. Hoping for the same tomorrow. I hate the cold weather, but the sun helps a bunch.

Anyone have a century schedule?

I have my own schedule. Or are you looking for a comprehensive list of those in our area?

Went riding here yesterday:

https://www.routeslip.com/routes/14197

It's about 30 miles each way or just a bit under 2 hours each way.

After a short stop at Tydings Park, I stopped in at a Burger King to thaw out with a hot cup of coffee and sandwich. The temps were in the low 20s and the windchill in the teens, so I needed this.

After thawing out and drying up the best that I could for the 45 minutes that I stayed at the restaurant--because there's nothing as bad as having to go back out in these temps and winds with a wet kit--I headed back home.

The ride home was uneventful once I got over the initial chill I received (my clothing wasn't quite as dry as I'd hoped for.)
