going to be a windy ride home tonight:backpedal:
40 mph gust out there |
Came in late today (around noon) and I was getting pushed all over the place. Tonight should be interesting.
Anyone going to the BBC social on sunday? I just RSVP-ed a yes. |
I'll be there.

I was searching about on google recently for brew pubs. There were two I found that were both far out of town, but that got good reviews. So, that got me thinking of Beer Ride v.2 as a whole different thing. A 100K that would need a drive to the start.
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/252642 Also finished up this ride idea last night: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/252340 Called "Walk the Line" a 200K w/abt. 6K worth of climb. :) |
Yeah, it was windy! Made for a quick push home for me until I got to Pulaski Hwy where the wind was trying to push me out into traffic. I had to get really low on the drops and slow down a little.

As far as culture, I can't give HV high marks. |

So, I'm "officially" in my new place, but it still looks like a bomb went off in there. I'm trying to get everything organized (still just trying to *find* stuff!) but I should be riding to work soon. Further incentive on that front: the drive to work from the new place is much more aggravating than it was from Catonsville, where I could be on I-95 in about 90 seconds. It's about 7 miles shorter, but still takes the same amount of time in the car (about 20-25 minutes.) Biking distance will be about 9 miles. |

The walk the line ride takes in some steep areas. I haven't looked closely at it but I have kayaked in that region(Muddy Creek/Cordurus creek, tributaries to the Susque.) and there are some really nasty climbs. Makes some of the hills in Catonsville look flat.

Pretty country along that line though. I bet that current route has several dirt roads in it. I'll scan it with google satellite view and try to re-route and remove the unpaved areas that I can find.

On Monday, I am likely to dry run the upper half of this:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/243657 (100K) I'm riding the whole 200K on April 5th, but I need to give the upper portion a shake down. I'll drive up to Wally's at Middletown and Rayville, ride the route up to the lunch stop in New Freedom and loop my way back to Wally's. Leaving at 12 noon on Monday. Any fellow riders are welcome. |

It shows less climbing, but it was modified by my TrainingPeaks software (~8000 ft). The iBike software showed climbing at ~6800ft. So, which one do you believe? I've been going along with the crowd since they all have GPS devices and don't speak iBike. |
Good Morning to All,
I finally got my P7 in last week SKU 19189, I went out for a ride @ dusk yesterday and did my dundalk loop then headed to the harbor, windy but bearable. Almost got hit twice coming down boston. 1/first almost I was going slow and a car came out from my right making a right turn, She blocked my path and traffic was heavy so I didn't want to go left into traffic, so I went right to go around her and she cuts the wheel right and I swear I was less than a 1/4" from laying on her hood. I looked back she was looking a little scared, but no harm done. 2/some suv started pulling out of a parking spot by capt. james resturant and came pretty close, again no harm done. I did have my 150lm handle bar light on. So I got to the harbor and placed the P7 on my helmet w/my velcro strap. I left the harbor and because I have good light all the way til Natty Bo, I put it on strobe mode, I had everything reflective, shoes, signs, cop cars, cones, etc. Flashing as far as I could see. I got to Natty Bo and went to high mode, nice 10 foot wide hot spot that I can project really far ahead of me, spill is about 30 feet, easilly I can light up buildings and cars from over 50 feet away. I had 0 close calls on the way home, if anything more people yeilded to me or at least went WTF is that and stopped. This new light is much much much brighter than my old 200 lumen 9060. I'll do beam shots eventually, I wanna ride down north point by bauers farm to do them thataway I don't have all the ambient lighting I have around here. Maybe I can convince NR to go to so I can compare it to the death star. Anyone ever want to do late start or night rides weekend or weekday let me know, my weekend daytimes aren't happening til may. Come on March 8!!!! Spring Forward. |
Man their were some mean cross winds yesterday. Road with a freind on a 40 mile route and we were getting blown all over the place.

You probably could talk me into a night time ride--once it gets warmer. I'd have to put the L&M ARC HID back on the handlebars to make the 'death star'--all of about 1 minute.

I wasnt sure where to post this, but I figured that some of people here would have some good ideas about biking to/from Camden Yards.
I think I am pretty set about GETTING there. My house is by Lake Montebello so I would take 33/32 to hopkins to the JF Trail to St. Paul down into the city. Sound ok? I would rather add another mile than travel on Harford rd with my girlfriend. (safety/neighborhood concerns) Its getting back to the lake that worries me. It isnt really the night riding (I ride in the dark home from work all of the time) that concerns me. Its riding with the post game traffic/bad neighborhoods. The stretch of the JF Trail from the train station to hopkins worries me in the dark....is it not really a problem? Also, if anyone has any ideas about where to park my bike at the stadium that would be great. I have heard that there are some racks by where you can buy tickets. Is that the best location? Thanks in advance! |
